He is 19 months old. Definetly going to be a monster 5 years from now at his prime

Here is a Horton Plains Leopard that had an unsuccessful predation attempt on a Sambar Stag.

Interesting seeing a brief chase of a smaller predator and massive ungulate.

As can be seen from this video.

1. A Leopard is not averse to hunting large prey in areas where they are the apex predator. Sambar also make up a high portion of their diet in Horton Plains National Park

2. The Leopard stopped when the jeep was spotted, then went back to the original path. This indicates that the Leopards in Horton Plains are less exposed to humans as opposed to the touristy parks like Yala or Wilpattu.

A mother leopard just killed a sambar deer and wants to drag it to some shelter. The kill is too heavy for her:

Meanwhile two jackals arrive to scavenge her kill:

She leaves her kill to get her cub. The jackals can now feast on it:

Later the cub arrives and starts eating:

After the cub, the mother starts eating:

Then the biggest male of Wilpattu National Park, Nelumvila Big Boy, arrives:

He approaches the mother and immediately dominates her:

Then he does what she couldn't; drag the heavy sambar kill to a better spot:

Does anyone know the name of this male Leopard?

The Leopard is from Yala National Park, and the kill looks to be a Wild Boar. The photographer is shivanthade on instagram.

YM07 Harak Hora, the brute. His face is always filled with fresh and old scars due to fighting other males and/or hunting dangerous prey such as wild boar and water buffalo.
