It’s not wise to post instagram stories because they expire in 24hrs.

What I do is I download the video and use Imgur to host the video and repost it here

Whattabeast!

Would be interesting to see a size comparison of him and Amahle, although hopefully without bloodshed.

@NLAL11 Makhunga is probably much bigger. By comparing with lionesses, Amahle is probably at best around the same size or smaller than the adult males thought to be average in the SS, like Mohawk or BDM.

In the close up video of PCM chasing Nkuhuma, even the smaller PCM dwarfed NK who we know is definitely big.

NK was the same size as Nhenha and looked massive with Tumbela, bigger Talamati and Kambulas.

Problem with this is that females can also vary in sizes, so unless 2 males are seen with same female, comparisons like this cant work.

But yea, given all we know and "eye test" PC males are prob bigger then Amahle (and not only him yet prob most males in the area), but how much is impossible to know, comparisons thru NK and Nhenha also doesnt work as we dont know how would Amahle stack vs them either.

Or how Amahle stacks vs other males, its imposible to know "blind" like this.

Remember that Amahle is most seen with the Kambula lionesses, who are big (tall) lionesses.

The Nkuhuma male is indeed a big lion, but I would disagree that Makhunga 'dwarfs' him, I seem to remember Nkuhuma being taller, if not as bulky. I feel like PC Males and Amahle are pretty similar in size and build, which is why is said it would be interesting to see a proper size comparison.

@Tr1x24 Comparison with NK works because NK matched Nhenha who was bigger in comparison to bigger Kambula than Amahle is to probably overall Kambulas, there's a photo with an unknown Kambula where she's taller.

One Londolozi ranger said Nhenha and PCM were a bit bigger than Amahle and another one seems to think PCM ( and Gijimas ) are also much bigger. Which is also worth mentioning.

@NLAL11 NK was indeed potentially taller, but PCM swallowed NK in length and overall bulkiness/frame. Weight wise it was clear PCM would weight much more.

Ok, Nhenha is prob a bit taller then Amahle i agree, but height is not only factor for size, with Amahles mane and bulkines i wouldnt be suprised he looks close in frame to Nhenha or NK.

2 problems with this sighting:

1. 2 PCMs have much larger mane, which brings a lot to frame size

2. 2 PCMs are almost full bellied while NK is empty and looks more thiner then usual

Mass difference is noticable between a lion who eated recently + has full belly, or male who didnt eat for few days and has empty belly.

Many factors came to play, lions are not always in same condition and same mass.

I agree that PCMs are prob a bit bigger then NK, but NK in peak condition + full belly + big mane like them and he is prob very close in frame to them.

Based on these images, not only are the PCM heavier, but they even appear taller by a few inches. Knowing that they were nearly running in Nkuhuma's literal footsteps, you can see the difference. Also, Makhunga is an absolute tank of a male lion, just look how thick he is, he is massive!
