Or are they challenging someone and I simply don’t know about it?
Kijana and olchore could challenge -orkirikoi✅ -Paradise males(Hunter 2 and ormagilani) -Kissinger males(mzee and lorkinjei) -sand river male(oloibor and manyewele) -topi males (droopy and chungwa) -fig tree male(osupaat)✅ -kola males (oloiborkwe and kiminati) -maji ya fiji males bully and limpy -irkisiausau male ✅
The ones with ✅ are single males. There are enough duo or single males they could challenge in my opinion. Also they have shown the drive to be dominant in my eyes.
Could someone help me out please ?
They ousted the remaining Sankai males, they also don’t have a map for all these coalitions and the territories they hold, so it’s not as simple as ‘let’s find the weakest coalition / solitary male and take his pride.’ Even then, there’s a chance the neighbouring coalitions will play a part in helping to oust them, especially if they are also targeting the same territory to takeover in the future.
This is what I believe happened when the 4 Inselberg males went into Orkirikoi territory a few months back, at a time when 3 Kaskaz males were also in the area, on top of 3 BRBs and then a few of the Paradise boys. Inselberg males crossed the river back into their territory with one of them limping, possibly due to fighting. All the coalitions in the area must’ve tricked them into thinking the area was ruled by a bigger coalition than Orkirikoi himself.
Right now they’ve been spending time in the territory of Kaskaz males and even had a slight altercation with one of their members over a buffalo kill that belonged to Kijana and Olchore.
By the way a lot of these coalitions u named are actual killers, so it’s not as easy as it seems, even with even numbers.
Thanks for the info bro. Now I understand. Would u consider kijana and olchore to be killers aswell? How good do u see their future to take over a pride?
I mean it's possible they had something to do with one of the Sankai males disappearance while taking over Rekero Pride, but nothing confirmed, and every conflict I've seen they've inflicted minor injuries on the other male, like the other week with the Kaskaz male. They also lost the Rekero Pride quite fast despite the fact it was said not even all Bila Shakas went into their territory, meaning at best it was a 3 vs 2.
In terms of taking over a pride again, Rekero Pride will prolly be easier in a few months when Bila Shakas lose interest, only Chongo now is the only one consistently with them. Survey Pride would be easy to take being Orkirikoi is a solo male, and now BRBs are down to 2, obviously Kaskaz boys being 3, they wouldn't be massively outnumbered. Fig Tree Pride is without dominant males leading females to seek out nearby dominant males as they are ready to mate again, they are technically the reason why Salas males vs BRBs conflict has started again, with them both leaving their respective territories to mate with these lionesses.
Osupaat currently is trying to control two separate prides, Hammerkop and Enkonyanai, so it wouldn't be hard for them to take one of them.
The bigger problem is the young, upcoming coalitions near them. Rongai Rockers could very well target Survey Pride in the future, they've already been spending time in that area. Fig Tree boys will likely go towards Osupaat when wanting their own territory, or maybe towards BRBs, and the Acacia boys are also hanging out by Osupaat. They would need a lot of luck just to avoid any of these coalitions if they were to takeover any of the above territories, as if they do, I'm afraid it won't be a long reign for them.
Thanks for the in depth insight. I thought they are one of the most impressive Lions of Masai mara, because of how young they became king and how young they beat the Salas males. What do u think is the reason Kijana and Olchore lost their pride so fast? Do u think, that they are the type of coalition that only fights with even or advantageous numbers?
So generally u dont see a bright future for them, and think they wont manage to raise cubs to independence right?
What is ur view on Orkirikoi? I heard he once defended the Survey pride from 2 intruders and survived an altercation with the kazkaz males. How come his pride hasnt been taken over till now? Are they so good at hiding? How come his territory hasnt been taken over by now as he is a lone male?
How would u rank the current coalitions of masai mara and why?

Thanks in advance for reply:)
Prolly lost it as quick as they did due to lack of experience fighting with dominant males over territory, Bila Shakas injured Olchore quite quickly which would’ve affected their confidence in defending their territory too. Add that onto the number disadvantage, and they believed they couldn’t compete.
Do I think they can be successful in their lives, yes, but in the short term, say until the end of this year, it’s hard to see depending on where they go.
Warrior. Never backs down no matter how outnumbered he is. Could always just go into hiding and live a safe life trying his luck with a few lionesses here and there but that’s not the life he aspires to live. He chased both older half brothers of the BRBs Manywele and Oloiborr around a year ago, and the other day after being chased by two Kaskaz males, he then tried to chase them both off too.
I don’t really rank current coalitions cos there’s too much to go off: age, territory, pride or size of pride, offspring, conflicts. Some males have a mission of taking over as many prides as possible, others like to stay more content with what they have, which is usually the better option to become successful.
Salas males and BRBs are a good example of this, BRBs would split as we all know, Salas males always stay together, yet both been very successful, even despite some crazy misfortune in the case of BRBs. They are the two coalitions I pay most attention to in Masai Mara.

Oloimina and Oloshipa been mating with 2 Fig Tree Pride lionesses within the last day or so, seems they may have bested the Salas boys for now, as they were also in contention to mate with these lionesses.
Four Rongai Rockers were eating a buffalo either in or around Kaskaz male territory too, Rob thinks the veterans chased the youngsters off after finding two Kaskaz males on the same kill.
