Kings and princes of the Mara!

Here's a map showing the current dominant and nomadic males. Creating this map took a lot of effort, and there may be updates in the future. Huge thanks to Adrian on Facebook

OLOBOR DEATH UPDATE:

Below is the caption for the post:
Olobor – The Fall of Titan
The names mentioned below have no connection to Olobor's killing. Challenges will be supported by more evidence.
It is evident high-level directives to suppress disclosure of HWC, as seen in the recent Moja Moja case.
Timeline of Events
•23-Jan-24: Last sighting of Olobor by wildlife photographer Mr. Rahul Taranath.
•24-Jan-24: Olobor was killed by a herder in the night at Maji Ya Fisi while resting. Oloshipa, fled to save himself once the attack began. Narok County, as of today, has no conclusive information on the perpetrator. However, suspects include members of the Sayiel family.
•25-Jan-24: The photographer reported Olobor was not sighted. Saw a huge volume of cattle.
•26-Jan-24: Morning, Olobor’s carcass was discovered, being consumed by hyenas. A spear remained lodged in his ribs, with his jaws crushed and paws smashed.
Guides who reported the discovery include:
1. @tira_antony/@antonytira (Antony Tira)
2. karinodaniel l (Karino Daniel)
3.Geoffrey Saddam Temut
Talek Rangers were informed, and higher authorities, including KWD vets’ team.
Actions Taken:
1. A decision was made not to disclose Olobor’s killing.
2. KWS vet unit from Lemek Station was prohibited from accessing the site.
3. Talek Gate in-charge summoned witnesses and deleted all evidence from their phones. However, the evidence had already been shared within close circles.
4. Rangers disposed Olobor’s remains deeper into the Maji Ya Fisi closed area and concealed it in a den (likely a hyena or warthog den).
5. A dedicated team was deployed to track and delete any remaining evidence under the patronage of @lennykoshal (Lenny Koshal)
Field Confirmation of Olobor Death:
09-Feb-2024: Abdelrahman Hassanein (@hassaneini) and Tira Betty (@tirabettybetty), announced Olobor’s death to their circle. My sincere them. Even Mara Predators confirmed his demise via IG chat. Luis Franco made the first public confirmation of Olobor’s killing.
• Killed: 1°27'52.1"S, 35°11'07.9"E
• Buried: 1°27'52.1"S, 35°11'07.9"E

Cannot even know what to say as seems the herders, family owners, and even wildlife rangers are on cahoots in the demise of lion / wildlife population in the Mara. Just made me think if there will be even lions in the Mara in the next 10 years if the place is riddled with these kinds of people, just do not know what runs through their minds as they are getting profits from the lion per the tourist and that profit is used to buy more cows, and the said cows is illegally grazed in the Masai Mara National Reserve and when that cows is killed or injured they retaliate to the lions that they have profited from the start this cycle needs to stop.

Christine Koshal which is Lenny Koshals Mom is the top Admin at the Massai Mara Reserve. The whole family is in cahoots and have a monetary interest in livestock grazing in the Reserve among other freelance Guides and families. I have a list of freelance Guides that are no good and are in on the livestock grazing and killing of these animals.

Thank you so much, for sharing this! I knew it had to involve people such as these, otherwise they would be in a position to stop it, which is what I find most sickening about the whole thing. These people are making money off of the existence of these cats, as well as their demise. Is Rob on that list? To be honest, I would be surprised if he was, but at this point, nothing happening in the Mara would surprise me anymore.

Rob the Ranger? No he is not but I have my own personal grudge with him. He actively keeps things quiet while he makes a fortune on those cats. I had a big blow out with him back in 2022 when they 4th young Moniko-Sankai boy was speared and suffered for 2 more weeks in the closed area in MYF. He knew about it the whole time and kept it quiet and misled people but most of them do that there. It's frustrating.

There are freelance Guides there who work as basically sub-contractors. They aren't tied to any one lodge. They are hired by many lodges to take clients on safari. These areare the problem ones like Lenny Koshal. Not all of them, just a handful. Rob owns lodges like Zebra Mara Camp and others.

It's definitely nearing the point they'll eventually get kicked out but for now they will for sure be tolerated, especially with Lorkulup not on the same page as Oloimina in this video, u can even tell he's thinking about chasing his own brother off. I'm also not so sure they'll have to apply much pressure to oust all 5 subadult males, they are doing a lot of exploring by themselves already and have shown they are capable hunters, I expected nothing less from offspring of the great Black Rockers. Another 6 months and I believe these boys will be able to fully commit to leaving the pride, it'd be great if they could come across a vacated pride and control it straight away, less chance brothers will disappear during the nomadic stage. I have a weird feeling they're going to come across Orkirikoi and possibly Survey Pride in the near future.

News on the Maji Ya Fisi Pride, they have four new cubs that were seen with two females who were having a massive standoff with a buffalo herd.

News on the Marsh Pride too, females have been seen mating with some of the 6 Topi Boys (7th male still hasn't joined them and stays in his natal pride territory, or atleast on the outskirts) and the females have also mated with Oleku the young Marsh male. Seems Bila Shakas might be too focused on Paradise and trying to takeover Rekero Pride, their own females are seeking out other males. It'd be great if Oleku could somehow try and weasel his way into that coalition, his 2 brothers were killed at the hands of poachers and his future has been uncertain ever since. Marsh Pride is definitely not the best territory to control, especially for a young and upcoming coalition, both due to the Bila Shakas and the poaching that takes place over there, as already seen with how it affected 1/6 Topi Boys.

I just remembered something taking place in Marsh Pride territory a while back, a young male was speared and then treated by vets, or atleast treated to the best of their abilities. The rangers decided to 'guard' his body, I use guard very loosely, while the anaesthetic was beginning to cool off. At some point during the night the same male had somehow come into contact with hyenas and was injured by them, later dying to his injuries. That's one of the most heartbreaking stories I've ever heard in general, never mind with lions, he was completely failed by the reserve. I hopethe anaesthetic was very much in play and he didn't experience anywhere near the pain he would have suffered while 100% conscious. I think that was a generation above Oleku, so this male would have been an older brother to him I guess. Anyways, like I said, not the best territory to want with the dangers that come with it.

Thank you for that. I have always felt that the lodge owners are complicit in what is happening, if only for their silence. They are making money off of the lives of these animals, and yet they say nothing as the wholesale slaughter of them takes place.

If the cubs in Maji Ya Fisi Pride disappear again for the nth time then we know what the cause again is.
