This is end of the era in NK pride, as all Matimbas daughters (RN, PE, AE and Chela) are gone.

We cant know how would it be, but i dont think all of them would be gone by now if RN & AE didnt split back in late 2021..big "what if".

Yes,    That was quite a fateful split.

To show how fast dynamics in a lion Pride can change:

In August of 2021, the Nkuhumas were a thriving Pride of 23 members.

- 7 Adults (RN, AE, PE, Chela and 3 Birminghams: Tattered Ear, Pale Eye and Daughter of RN)
- 6 Sub Males (2RN; 1AE, 2 PEs, and 1 Chela)
- 3 Sub Females (3 AEs)
- 7 Cubs from the 3 Birminghams

Losses began immediately after the PCMs began courting AE and RN,,,,one of Amber Eye’s three girls got too close and was killed by the PCMs appx. September.

Today  after losing both Chela and Tattered ears in less than 30 days and Ridge Nose loss not long ago, it’s only  8 members.

- Pale Eyes
- Daughter of RN
- AE daughter 1
- AE daughter 2
- 3F 2021
- 1M 2021

And the Three Boys w Mohawk

And the recent sighting of Mohawk all the way down south and alone and in questionable shape leaves concern for the 3 remaining boys after the one was killed recently.

Yea, but young males are expected to leave the pride.

Regardless, even without them, numbers split in half in a span of 2.5 yrs.

I did not know or remember that the Nukhuma young male lions had 2 other brothers around their age? I know recently the young Nukhuma male lions lost one of their young brother may he rest in peace. I read there are still 3 Birmingham lionesses. Is Pale eyes one of them or is she an older lioness? I just see the list she is a daughter of the Birmingham male lions; there is two Birmingham daughters. The rest of the lionesses and lions are daughters and sons of the Avoca male lions? I had a question who was the younger male lions mother born in 2021?

The PC males have been bad news for this pride. Potentially 4 lionesses less than there would have been if they had never encountered them.

Yes, but guys, it's normal for lionesses to split when a pride gets too large.  Even though Sabi Sands and the KNP in general, have an abundance of prey, in comparison to many other places, this has resulted in larger than average prides/coalitions.  These lionesses cannot all be close and loving to one another.  After all, are we also as close to all of our extended family, or to a relatively few?  Plus, these are predators, competing even within prides for resources and dominance.

Six total males from the 2019 litters made it to sub adulthood.

1/2 Ridge Nose sons was lost after a bad hunt that left him w fractured limbs and died later.
Ambers boy from her litter disappeared appx October of 2022. It was sudden and we never got a reason why.
And most recently we lost the Lip Scar son of Purple Eye.

Yes, until this month there were 3 Birmingham daughters but we recently lost Tattered Ear, who was Chela’s half sister. Both were daughters of Nana. Pale eyes is one of the other two that remain. The second doesn’t have a name and is known as the Ridge Nose daughter.

Yes. The two 2019 girls (AE daughters) and all 2021s were sired by Avocas.

The mother of the remaining boy is disputed. Most say he’s son of the RN daughter. but pictures linking the mothers have been hard to establish.

4 Nkuhumas on Djuma this morning. 2 lionesses and 2 subs, including the male, and the Talamati male was with them though he wasn't viewed on camera. Very active and mobile, Cedric said they seemed a bit agitated and restless. Full bellies so not hungry. Sounds like they were coming west from Torchwood.

It's said the one PCM was seen with the Ximungs this morning, and that the other was moving back west.  K4 is on Djuma, and interesting if Khanya is in fact still around.  The BDM's continue to be ghosts though there are reports they are somewhere around Djuma as well  So weird.

Plot twist!
Khanya and K4 team up and chase out PC boys and officially take over nkuhumas!
Just joking but this could be a possibility.
How receptive would K4 be to Khanya? They each have access to plenty of lionesses and Khanya is a smart, personable lion.

I’m wondering if we could possibly see a split between the pride?
Will K4s bros ever come find and join him?
Very nice both big boys accept the young Nkuhuma boy.

As of right now, the most I can see is a temporary alliance (not even sure u can call it that) where both K4 and Khanya are aware of each other and as both are in the presence of several Nkuhuma Pride members, they would rather not fight it out. For all we know this could already be happening.

Long term, it’s tricky for Khanya to become accepted by the Kambula males. U normally see older males get accepted by several younger males, not as much the other way round. The other Kambulas just aren’t around enough for him to gain acceptance either. Would love to see him join them tho as it’s good for both parties.

I remember the video of Spearboy, before he was injured on his leg, trying to join those other young males. Seems a similar age difference as this situation, and those other males were not having it. He took quite a beating in that foray into joining an established coalition.

My feelings on the only way it happens is if K4 has already left his brothers, which, almost seems possible.  I agree with everything you say.

Its not that unreasonable. For K4, Khanya may be a more reliable partner than the other Kambulas while having less lions to share with.

Aslong both are hanging out with the Nkuhumas its not likely to happen though. Its turning a bit in a Nym, Skorro Ximhungwe situation.
