There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Nkuhuma Pride
  • We had an increase in sightings of lions from this pride this month. A lioness from this pride mated with the Black Dam males west of the Old Borehole on the 7 th and 8th. On the 8th, a Kambula lioness came to investigate the situation, trying to entice the males to mate with her instead. We saw three females (two sub-adult) and one sub-adult male north of Mlowathi Dam on the 16th . The 27th and 28th were great days for viewing this pride as thirteen lions where south of Ostrich Koppies. The last time members of this pride were seen was on the 29th, when two sub-adult males were following a herd of buffalo west of Clarendon Dam, their nerves got the better of them and they never made any attempt to hunt.

Encounter between the Black Dam males and the younger members of the Nkuhuma Pride. It's believed that the BDM's and lionesses of the Nkuhuma pride made the buffalo kill and at some point afterwards the younger members of the pride came to feed on it thus causing the BDM's to run them off of it.

An additional clip of the encounter. Fortunately it appears that the BDM's were only interested in keeping the younger members away from the remains of the kill.
