It's a huge distance to travel from Southern Sabi Sands/Skukuza are to Singita Lebombo. I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if he wasn't on the Sabi Sands one.

any lion would obviously love to be the most dominant, but there comes a point where regardless of their place in the hierarchy, the priority is survival.
It is much easier for him to have 6 lions that collaborate when hunting and/or lionesses from the prides that this coalition has the potential to dominate.
It doesn't bring him any benefit to split up like that.

Which is more dangerous for him than for the territorial males in the area, since apparently no Nkhulu seems to have followed him there.

Lions typically don't share. Especially not in highly competive groups that large coalitions form. They may cooperate during the hunt, but once the kill is done, its every lion for himself.
If you cant fight for your piece of meat, you will starve.
Every lion has been beaten that concept in their head from birth so they are keenly aware of it.
So its not that hard to believe that a experienced lion is willing to take the gamble and leave.
In fact, with large coalitions or prides, split offs are to be expected.
