2 injured males certaintly play the role, if they where all 100% im sure they would already attempt takeover..

Remember, Wide Nosed male when he was healthy was massive as the Dominant one (some say even bigger) and now he is the worst condition than Injured male, thats a lot off lost firepower..

And these 2 males certaintly lack confidence, always trailing and following their 2 healthy brothers who prob are doing the majority of hunting..

Lets not act that they are coalition of 4 healthy males, they are not.. They will prob take more time..

Still it is a lot firepower considering size of the coalitions around. Also N'was actually have quite sizable territorry secured, it is just lack of prides in that arenas. I wish Styx pride would make Sabi Sabi their home. N'was could bring stability for that pride. If the land will stay empty of the prides, N'was can move further north. They have enough firepower to deal with Birmiinghams and Othawa male.

They have, but it is more of a mental game for them, are they are willing to take that risk with 2 injured/not in best condition males? Do this 2 males have enough confidence and are they even willing to follow their brothers in war? Will they chicken out and run away when fight happens? 4 vs 2 can easly turn into 2 vs 2 if injured males run away.. Thats a lot of ifs..

5 Majingilanes where in perfect condition when they invaded 2 Mluwatis, and still 1 got killed.. All 5 Bboys where fcking tanks when they invaded 2 Matimbas..

They want to be in best possible condition in those times and chose a perfect moment, because its literaly about life or death..

Yeah, I think the N'waswitshaka males can be ready to took-over a territory of another male lions next year or so they not are in their prime yet, But they look like going to be very big males

Video  ( This post was last modified: 07-23-2020, 08:28 PM by Cath2020 )

Came upon this gem of a clip about the Southern Pride Lions.  They were so numerous and thriving just a few years ago!  How sad, what happened when the Charleston Brothers just upped and abandoned them with such young cubs... Wonder why they would do that??!!  Were they under too much pressure in that area?  All those cubs and lionesses were then killed as a direct result.

Now, the last remaining Southern Pride Lioness was seen under the control of the 4 N'was about a month ago.  Wonder where she is now and if she'll survive to rebuild her pride as the last one standing.  The older one was killed by the Mangheni Pride.

Would be wonderful to see her with cubs soon by the N'was....hoping she'll have at least one female out of her next litter.

And wow, Floppy Ear living to 18!!  That was one tough, healthy lioness.

"Wonder why they would do that??!! "

They took over some pride(s) in KNP and for some reason they prefered to spent their time with those pride(s) over Southern pride.

"Were they under too much pressure in that area?"

They were not under pressure at all.

"Wonder where she is now "

She is still in the territorry Southern pride hold for years - Sabi Sabi

I think those cubs mostly died from starvation or where just lost, SP after the Charleston's abandon them where not very stable pride and where somewhat nomadic (roaming in and out in Kruger, and always returning with fewer numbers) without coalition to protect them, and there was a lot nomadic males roaming around..

For the lionesses, majority of lionesses where old, if im not mistaken they didnt raise any cubs to adulthood for many years, because in a span from 2009 when Golf Course males lost them to Toulon's, to 2016 there where many coalitions controling them (Toulon's, Kruger males, Sand River males, Fourways males and Charleston males), thats way too much to be able to succesfully raise cubs to adulthood..

Basicly, since 2010, Southern Sabi Sands and area around Skukuza, is one big warfare zone, and all prides in that area are either low on numbers, or completely extinct..

It seems that buffalo population is finally at good numbers around Sabi Sands, just in a span of day or two, Styx's, Nkuhumas and N'waswitshaka all had buffalo kills, Kambulas had too not long ago, which is good for lion population.

" There is not much that is more satisfying than when you follow the signs of the bush and they lead you to an awesome sighting! During safari we noticed some vultures perched in a tree; but what stopped us was the Bateleur Eagle which was also seen close by.  On further investigation, we noticed a hyena passing by – something was definitely happening! We moved around and noticed a foul smell that led us straight to two lions on a buffalo kill – the male was still feeding and the female resting not far off with a very full belly. "
