I was thinking it would be interesting to see which predation feats by felines members here find most impressive(must have video or Photo evidence) for lions it’s also important that you can assure the lion made the kill by him/her self.
I’ll start with the tiger:

Munna with a huge gaur bull kill.

Hope this can be an interesting thread full of impressive feats by different cats.

Lioness bringing down a cape buffalo bull has to be the mist impressive thing I have seen a lion ever bring down by herself.

You mention lions specifically, but same goes with all, don´t you think? Wink If there is just a photo of some big cat eating a carcass, there should be also something to assure, that it was killed by that big cat. Like with this gaur, is there some description from people who observed, that tiger killed this gaur alone? We know, that time to time a family group of tigers can also hunt together in order to take down really dangerous prey. And sometimes some big animals could have died by natural causes. We have seen elephant and rhino carcasses for instance eaten by predators, which didn´t kill them.

So maybe in this thread should be only photos which have some story to tell what happened. Dead gaur bull doesn´t mean automatically, that it was killed by a tiger after all. If we demand more for some accounts than from some others, it´s not too objective.

This video, which has been posted before is the one which has impressed me the most. Not the music, but what happens.

Lions are social cats so it’s a little different to  tigers, jaguars and leopards that are solatary hunters, when there is a case with family groups of tigers hunting its usually a female with large cubs I doubt tigers actually knows the skill of team work to bring down larger prey and it probably only happens as I said when a tigress has large cubs or during mating season, I can’t see them gathering specifically to go out and hunt together. The tiger with the gaur is called "Munna" and he killed that gaur bull alone.
Here is another case of him with a bull gaur kill.

But yes I should have added a source to the kill, but those pictures are so well known in this comunity that I didn’t think of it. My bad :)
But yes an account of the kill should be added as I did with the lioness on the cape buffalo bull and the leopard with the blue wildebeest.
Or you can add a picture or video of the kill :)

I approach this matter from that point of view, that many people can look at these postings and always some new people too, who might not know so much. And since there are no videos or photos showing tigers attacking bull gaur and fighting with it, we really don´t know too much. All what we have are dead gaurs and tigers eating them. How many have been really killed by tigers, how many have died to natural causes etc. This kind of questions can be asked and with a good reason too. That´s why it´s always interesting to know as much as possible, what is really observed and what has been concluded from possible injuries in carcass etc.

For sure tigers attack time to time also bull gaurs, but just like with lions and cape buffalos, it´s not at all sure what outcome is, some say that those gaurs have killed more tigers than vice versa. Very tough opponent and this Munna can be one of the few tigers who have figured out how to handle gaur bull. And what comes to tigers hunting in small family groups, I think that there are cases with male-female pairs, females with cubs etc. Not too usual thing to happen, but sometimes. Gaur bull is that difficult opponent, that why not if possibility occurs, they say that tigers are smart after all Wink

I have the same stance for Tigers and Gaurs as I do for Lions and Capes and that is that no way can either take on a Big alpha head to head alone.
Their only hope is an extended fight over hours and most likely hamstringing, even exhausting the bull would take multiple attackers since it's much easier to focus on one than many.

I agree the biggest healthy bulls are not targeted by lone Lions and Tigers. It wouldn’t make sense to attack such dangerous prey as there is plenty of easier prey around. bulls would have to be either old or injuried before the cats would attack imo.
