Breath-taking portraits of the two Mapoza male lions that have taken over the Trilogy's territory. Our guests have been watching these two over the last day or 2 as they were mating and relaxing with the Ross Breakaway lionesses. Impress lions!
From Baobab Ridge Game Lodge
Last night the Hercules pride made a buffalo kill! This morning when we went to check on them we found a new male lion on the kill! He must have chased them off and we're not 100% sure who he is. One of the guides mentioned his name may be Duma? We'll keep you updated once we know for sure. He's definitely a beauty!

From Pondoro Game Lodge: "The Mohlabetsi male following a lioness towards Ngala dam late afternoon on the 16th of October. Their pride caught 3 buffaloes during the previous night and a drink of water to wash down a good meal seems the right thing to do."

Yesterday afternoon, we heard about a pack of African Wild dogs close to south gate. We found the pack sleeping next to the road. 3 of the Mbiri pride Lionesses were found on tamboti, in the drainage line. The Thanda Impi male Lions were found sleeping it off on AK's road. The Rhulani male Leopard was found to the east of Leopards drift, feeding on the remains of a Buffalo.
This morning started off with both Thanda Impi male Lions, and 1 of the Mbiri Lionesses at Tintswalo Pumphouse. The rest of the morning produced some Hyena, elephant and plenty of General game.

Their contact calling and roars sound like they can be measured on the Richter scale. These are the sounds of the bushveld - ever present, all consuming. Greg's image captures the natural dominance exuded by this Mapoza male."
On the afternoon of the 7th, we had a lot of elephant around the lodge area. The Thanda Impi male Lions were found on Windi Windi, and moved to Konkoni quarry.
Yesterday morning, started off with the Sizanani Thanda Impi male Lion at Zebra pan. He moved towards Konkoni quarry, and evenyually settled down for his daytime sleep. The new young male Leopard was found on Red road, and moved to the drainage line to the east. The rest of the morning produced the rest of the big 5.
In the afternoon, we relocated on the new young male Leopard in the same place. He is becoming quite relaxed with the vehicles now, a good sign for the future. Two of the young Mbiri lionesses were found at Konkoni quarry, and moved to Xigamba pan for drink.
This morning was all about the Lions! The Thanda Impi males and the two young Mbiri Lionesses were found at Xigamba Pan. The males were being quite aggressive with one another. During the morning, they killed a Buffalo bull on Windi Windi. The rest of the morning produced some great Elephant sightings.

The "Big Boss" shadowed by his "Manager"! It's a sight to behold! These cats are in their prime and really dominating this reserve at the moment. We were lucky to bump into these two, shortly after a bit of rain, patrolling and marking their territory. I had my camera handy, and managed to get a few shots, but this is my favourite.

We're afraid to say we saw the Mapoza male lion again yesterday afternoon... Sigh. It's really a tough way to spend the most beautiful time of day, gazing into the eyes of Africa's king of beasts! This male was looking glorious after digesting his last feast of buffalo before he and the two lionesses took down another one last night!
Trilogy male. Photos taken october 19. We, African Impact - South Africa Conservation Projects and our guide Reynard Moolman followed him for about an hour.
The 17th we found the Sable bridge leopard cub and the Thanda Impi males on Nyathi drive.
On the afternoon of the 18th the Nharu pride was relocated on a buffalo kill close too Shingalani road. Rhulani, the warthog specialist was found with nothing else then a Warthog on old madach. The Thanda Impi's were also found about 1km away from the Nharu pride sleeping on vulture pan link.
This morning, we relocated on Rhulani, he managed to tree his kill in a Marula tree. The Nharhu pride was found in the same spot with the Thanda Impi's nowhere too be seen, only their roars could be heard in the far distance.
