Lions of Timbavati

Hercules male killed a buffalo and the 2 Ross males arrived. They shared a meal with lots of growling in between. Hercules far from his territory. In size he is much bigger than both other males. I was informed this morning that they are still at the kill. The sighting was reported by Shindzela and Thabamati guides in Southern Timbavati.

That second picture really struck me as funny. It totally embodies what we've come to know of the Ross Males. Tyson, always known as "The mean one", has that look of "Let's kick this party off with a bang",  Fabio has a look of "Oh, God, here he goes again, I can't take him anywhere", while Hercules looks like "Dude, it's my party, I arranged the meal".

When the Mbiris chased Hercules and Sumatra, ousting them from the Skorro pride, it was reported as "2 huge males chasing 2 huge males" so I'm not surprised Hercules is much bigger than the Ross.

That was Mbiris chasing H7 males, not Hercules and Sumatra.

Anyway one of the Shindzela guides asked once if Sumatra and Hercules are bigger than Mongawane Birmingham male answered "Hercules definitelly, Sumatra might be the same size". Also recently Klaserie guide was asked who he thinks was biggest male in the arena he has seen and he answered somethink like "Hercules is the biggest male I have seen there in a while" so Hercules is potentially biggest male in the Timbavati at the moment and sure he should be bigger than Ross males.

Both Hercules and Sumatra where around the same size, but Sumatra was often skinny because of disease (similar to Blondie Avoca).

Look at that nice, smooth back!  Not a bite mark or scratch on it!  He's been keeping himself injury free while taking care of a large pride.  He's come of age in a big way.  Some lions are more late bloomers than others.

Wait what, wasn't it confirmed that it was Hercules and Sumatra getting chased? Who are these H7 males then?

Difference between the Ross that attacks the Hercules male and the Hercules himself indeed looks small.

As it is with most males, thats why making comparisons without seeing males next to each others is often missleading and just speculation. Hercules is slightly bigger, but his big mane gives him even more size in frame.

This is very funny situation, its like you could see Tyson looking at his brother like "cmon, lets tear this guy to pieces" , and Fabio is like "pls, we are too old for this, lets just eat bro".

Well the person who saw them next to each other was the one to report Hercules was much bigger.
