Idk, but im not yet on "Monwanas hype" train, atleast for now, i think they are still some time away from being serious contenders.

These boys still look very young and still have much to develope, especially in size/mass.

I dont think PCMs see them as major threat for now, they are like double the mass of these boys.

I would imagine the PCs will still kill one of the Monwanas if they get the chance. The boys are around the same age as Lip Scar Nkuhuma (Purple Eye's bigger son), and they most likely killed him.

But yes, the 1 Monwana male who's been spending time with the Mhangenis looks (to me) more like a young lion trying to join a pride rather than assert dominance over the lionesses. That male does look like one of the least developed though, and so is potentially one of the youngest.

If I remember correctly, at first they thought it could have been while attempting to hunt buffalo, but the final verdict of the rangers was that he was killed by lions. The location (Singita I believe), and the fact that young males that have reached that age only tend to be killed by other males, not females, points to the PC males as the most likely culprits of his demise.

Just wondering. Have there ever been reports, legends or otherwise of marozi lions seen in Sabi or Kruger?

Two Kambula lionesses, I believe the two pregnant ones, one of which is 'about to pop' in Sean's words. By now she has probably given birth. OE Ndzenga male was following them. And all four Kambula boys together for the last segment of the video. One of them was limping on a front paw, looked like K6 to me, but didn't look like anything too serious.

Has anyone else noticed, in recent videos - and by recent I mean since he got caught by the Mantimahle males - that often when K4 goes to head rub with one of his brothers, he's greeted with grumpiness and a snarl, rather than affection. Particularly from K5. K4 seems to do this more often now, since his injury, maybe the injury and knocking down of his confidence has made him a bit more needy, or at least more seeking of his brother's affection, when he used to be quite happy being a bit of a loner. And it's kinda sad to see him often getting rejected when he goes for a head rub.

Yes, he definetly fall of in hierarcy.

Less dominant/injured/unhealthy males often seek "affection" of more dominant/stronger partners.

Reason? Prob they want to strenghten the bond, as they want that "security/protection" from them in return, to replace their own weakness.

Obviously, more dominant/stronger lions often dont like that, as they are feeling that weakness in them and lose respect towards him.

Same how Mandevu was rejecting Ncile up until Ncile was strong enough again to kick his ass.

Lions hierarcy is all about strenght, if you are not strong enough (for whatever reason) you will be seen as "weakness" and "burden".

Londolozi Blog https://blog.londolozi.com/2025/01/24/th...tures-685/

The Ndzhenga Males continue to have a strong hold on the southeastern parts of Londolozi, protecting their cubs from any intruders. In the North, The Tsalala Female is still spending time with both the Plains Camp Males, lets hope we have some new cubs at some point this year. Also making a name for themselves is the Styx Young Male and the Ntsevu Breakaway Lioness who managed to kill a buffalo calf in the open areas of Londolozi.

Moments after killing the buffalo, the Styx Young male come in to make sure the calf was dead. His eyes are extremely intense in this photo. (Photos taken 14th December. Credits to Patrick Grealy.)

If you look toward the end of the video (around 17 minutes I think) one of the brothers yawns and he’s totally missing his upper left  canine. I bet his head and mouth hurt all the time. His tooth was knocked out right at the gum line so I imagine the root is exposed.
Kevin Richardson had a super grumpy lion and after a few years they realized one of his teeth was rotten and infected. After he got his tooth pulled he was a totally different and friendly lion.

Mandevu and Ncila were a bit different in that Ncila was a bully and didn’t have a strong friendly bond. Mandevu and Lambile were buddies and I feel Ncila would’ve bullied Lambile to death if he never got snared.  Tumbela was also a bully to his brothers.
Ncila got humbled for sure. He really mellowed out and became nicer to his brothers and pride after he healed up.
