Good on the Black Dam Males! So they are taking their role as territorial males seriously. This might have a positive affect on their relationship with the Nkuhuma lionesses as well.

I hope the Kambula boys are all okay, and that the facial scars on one of the BDMs aren't because they both caught one of the Kambulas. They'll have learned a valuable lesson here.

Shame the fight wasn’t witnessed because we’d have more of an idea of how this situations plays out. Like did the BDMs catch one of the Kambula YMs off-guard and therefore he was forced to protect himself hence the nose injury on the BDM or were the Kambula YM(s) the aggressors at one stage before being beaten. Next update on the Kambula YMs will be interesting.

Facial injuries suggest the lion was the attacker, though its not 100 percent proof.

I think that we see the BDM and not the Kambulas suggests they won comfortably though.

@KM600 Mbiris have more reported fights, clashes and wins against other lions at even numbers or while outnumbered than any other lions. They were able to defeat prime dominant males 2v2 in rival territory when they were only 3yo, like they did to Ross and Mapoza males.

Theres only 1 encounter when Mbiris chased the Ross males of a kill, not sure if Ross males where territorial at that time, as i cant remember exact date, i think they where not. Regadless, Ross males and Mbiris didnt battle for territory.

As for Mapoza, they where seen chasing older (i think) Mapoza in 1vs2, but not sure if they battled Mapozas for territory after (not sure what happened to Mapozas tbh).

So overthrowning might be bit of a strech, but yea, they showed great confidence and fearlessnes at 3.5-4 yrs of age, which is rare, especially for only duo.

Definetly one of the most notorius, agressive and fearless duos recently, their only defeat came in 2vs3, and only once seen being chased in equal numbers, both by Nharhus, with who they had numerous fights, Shaka few times even lucky to survive, so its not like they give up without a fight.

BDMs and Nkuhumas are just below Djuma, the two groups are about 6km from each other. Talamatis are just west of the words "DJUMA" in that open area and the Nharus were in the top left corner but went north back into Buffelshoek

Ross were territorial, they are exactly 3 years older than the Mbiris who were 3,5yo, so the Ross were 6,5yo.

They defeated 2 Mapozas at 3,5yo in Mapoza territory, July 2017:

Almost immediately the guides tracked down the Giraffe pride feeding on a buffalo kill very close to Kambaku’s entrance.


After a few short moments’ two fairly new nomadic male lions (Mbiri males) entered the scene assisted by the cloak of early morning darkness and chased the Giraffe pride south away from their kill.

The new nomads had just returned to feed on their stolen prize when something caught their attention from the South, the 2 Mapoza males of the Giraffe pride, approaching with intent to reclaim what was rightfully theirs.
The now already adrenalin and testosterone filled nomads accepted the Mapoza’s challenge with full vigour and successfully chased the resident males off in a cloud of dust and roars!!

Unfortunately in all the chaos, the white lioness found herself caught amidst it all and the target of the new Nomads aggression, a fight she was never equipped to contend with!!

Mbiris also defeated the remaining 2 Trilogy males at that time:


However, despite the war zone area, the Ross Breakaways remained strong on their territory. During this period of time we also had the appearance of Mabande, the Mapoza males, and the lone Sumatra male. They all enjoyed a few mating sessions with the Ross Pride ladies, and a few of them tested the territory of the Trilogy kings; but the Trilogy boys always emerged victorious.


The arrival of the Mbiri male coalition wreaked havoc. The boys sauntered across from the Manyaleti Game Reserve and made it clear that it was their time to shine. They became involved in a few scuffles with the Trilogy and sent them on their way with a few physical scars and wounded pride.

The Mbiri's performance in even numbers against prime males at the age of 3,5yo is unprecedented, I can't recall any other male coming even close to replicate that. The closest I can think is Big Boy Charleston fighting the Sand River male, he did very well, but ended up losing.

And yeah their only defeat in an even fight was against the 2/3 Nharhus, but even then there's context to it, the report says Scar was limping from one of his hindlimbs, so either he was initially caught alone or he was already limping when they met the Nharhus, so it's not like it was 100% fair. Not taking the merit away from the Nhahrus, they were extremely strong, even the limping brother proved to be when nobody expected anything from him, but I wanted to give the context on Scar's condition at the time.

Thing is that’s without Mohawk and the Nkuhuma YMs too, well unless they went back into KNP so Northern Sabi Sands is packed.

That one is actually made up lie, not by you of course as it is from the lodge report throught at the end fact is that at a time Mbiris started competing, a second Trilogy male was already long way dead and the last Trilogy was nomadic (or already with Monwana pride even idk).

Wow I had no idea the report with the Trilogy was false.

As for the Charlestons, it's a very impressive feat, no doubt, though a 4yo is considered an adult male already, below this they're subadults, also Freddy and Solo had a weak bond and I'm not even sure they could be considered fully dominant at that time, still, very impressive regardless, most 4yo don't challenge prime males even when they have the numbers on their side.

Adding onto this, Tendai said Mohawk is in KNP with a kill east of Cheetah Plains. Also, there was originally 3 lionesses with K4 so they could have stole one or maybe she just wasn’t spotted. Cedric did say the 4 Kambula YMs were in Torchwood with a lioness and as far as I know the sister hasn’t been spotted with her brothers since they arrived in Chitwa Chitwa.
