The everchanging lion dynamics continue to thrill us! The past weeks have seen the older male of the sub-adult Othawa's rejoin the other trio of sub-adults he had earlier parted company from. This young coalition have been venturing further and further away from their pride as they begin to explore their independence. In the meantime the Tumbela males continue to traverse the western sector of the reserve being sure to let their presence be known as the Matimba male has moved into the far east of the Sabi Sand.

Well he is almost (or maybe already is) 11 yrs old, which is quite a lot for male lion in the wild..
He is not getting any younger and will look older each day.
Generations of lions born around 2010 who we follow for many years like Bboys, Mantimahles, Shishangenis, Shishangaans, Mpondos, Ross, Machatons etc are getting old and will soon pass away, so we need to appreciate every sightings of them, who are still alive.

If we do not count being chasse as a defeat then most of coalitions are undefeated. It is rather rare that lions from different coalitions are fighting toe to toe with equal numbers, in great most of cased it is either outintimidating opponed or singling out member of enemy coalition and mauling him in fight few vs one.

Both females are always in excellent condition with full bellies..
Also it looks like Kambulas are not venturing into their area anymore, they are further south, which is good for Tsalalas.
I hope that Pretty Girl dont go into estrus yet and chose to mate (she might in few months), that could be very stressful for the young female as she would be alone for majority of the time when her mother will be mating and later on denning. It might not happen tho.
