Yes, I meant Nhenya from the B'ham Boys.  Typed the wrong name.

And she's already practicing her hunting skills before 2. Very promising

2/3 Tumbela males feeding on the remains of a wildebeest kill made by 2 Othawa lionesses at Inyati Game Lodge, Western Sabi Sands.
Also seems that is possible that tracks of the subadults and or Matimba male were seen around Dulini river so that means that they're still around the area, let's be patient!

Meet the newest member of the Mhangene pride. This 2 month old cub has an incredibly strong bond with its mother and is integrating well with the rest of the family.

The pride now consists of 6 lionesses, the Othawa male, 2 cubs that are 6 months old, 1 cub that is 4 months old and the new cubs. It gives us great pleasure to see this pride grow in numbers.

Can they survive on their own already is the real question, Junior is 3 in 4 months, while 3 youngsters are barely over 2 yrs old..

I assume Othawa lionesses will still reunite with them from time to time, but in few months i dont think they will, especially when new Tumbela cubs come..

Also, HB is alone now for week or so, thats very concernig aswell..

@felinefan Ottawa Male should be ok for now. His only real competition is the Tumbela Males, and they’re busy with the Ottawa pride and nowhere near confident enough to challenge any males right now. They don’t even bother Hairy Belly.

@Cath2020 Nana was the mother of Chela (born in 2013). Another Nkuhuma lioness was killed by the Birminghams in 2015 and I’m not sure what happened to the mother of Junior/ Purple Eye but I don’t think she was seen since 2014. The Nkuhumas are hard to figure out prior to 2014. They were sometimes seen with multiple adult lionesses and many cubs and then again with just 2-3 lionesses and a few cubs. I think the constant male turnover affected them. By 2014 it was just two adult lionesses and the sub adults that currently makeup the pride.

So far this has been a soft takeover. May be one of the older lionesses will stick around with them, or ideally the Tumbela's will accept them at least for a while. Reminds me of the Northern Avocas and the Nkhuma pride. They were pretty tolerant for a while and the Tumbelas are not very confident at the moment. Hoping for the best.

#1,015. - So I never knew this....Tumbela's father (Sizanani) was with the Ottawa females in 2011??

I will give Sizanani credit, he was a survivor. I think he associated with at least 6 prides in his lifetime... not bad for being a male who was outnumbered and on the run most of his life.

With everyone expecting the Nkuhumas/Avocas to go south, it would be interesting if they just go west instead.

That's what I thought, that a Nana is probably not the mother of Junior since he looks nothing like her.  Even if he did take mostly after the Matimba father, he'd at least have a little of her traits.  This is one of the reasons why I don't believe Skorro is the father of RRM, either.  He looks zero like Skorro, and if you look at the ones Skorro sired, they almost all look quite heavily like him, or at least have some of his features.  His genes seem quite dominant.   I don't follow RRM in particular or find his story that appealing, (nor do I believe he looks that big...at least not in person) but I have seen enough pictures, etc...

Did the video I posted have Chela featured on it?  She's the other one besides Amber Eyes that was born in 2013?

After seeing a close-up of Nana, I definitely do see how she could be the daughter of Blondie (cannot find any of Dozie's photos to compare).  She has that light coloring around the neck/muzzle and in other areas, plus her nose reminds me of a photo I saw not long ago of Blondie's nose and shape, only hers is more dainty as is expected, being a female.

He is INDEED a Skorro Junior!   He is stunning in his recent photos.  He has that look of a young lion: still a bit unsure, still a little innocent, softer somehow, but experience/age could change and harden his look.

Northern Singita is vacant space, so its normal that Nkuhumas look to expand in that area..
