Its quite common for steril lionesses to venture off and mate with other males (Kambula lioness with Othawa male).

Hairy Belly was seen south with rest of the Othawas..

This is quite common for any lionesses in estrus. If lionesses mate with any coalition around then she do not need to worry for potential take over as no matter which coalition in the end will came to power, still her cubs will be safe as each male will see them as potentially his.

I believe the lioness mentioned was Aunty Othawa, not the infertile lioness.  On Instagram I noticed that the lioness is ID'd as the infertile older one....

So was it her with the Tumbelas all along, or did Aunty also mate with them?  She was said to have been absent for a spell from the pride as well.  Interesting if any cubs will be born a few months from now....or since these males came into the Othawa territory.  There will be some debate about paternity.

This is infertile, limping Aunty.. Not Juniors mom, Juniors mom is not in estrus yet..

No, if she's sterile, then she cannot come into estrus.  She can be infertile, though, and possibly still go into estrus.  But this is assuming that she's in estrus, mating with the males.  Extremely risky behavior because if, on the off chance she conceives, the incoming males will probably kill all the cubs anyway, since they'll have assumed she also mated with HB, the lion they'll try to take over from.   If they takeover without him around, they could be a bit more tolerant.

I think it's more likely she's mating to stall for time.  They are distracted while they have her and Aunty Othawa (if she also has been with them) to engage with while the teens continue to gain experience and hunting skills, buying them more precious time.  Each month is important.

This lioness cant conceive, she never had a litter in her life, and she is 13 yrs old..

I dont think she stalls anything, because Tumbelas arent in process of takeover Othawas yet or anything..

She is often seen mating with HB,unnucesfully,so she tries her luck with other males (same did Kambulas infertile lioness with Othawa male).. Thats it..

The three young Tumbela Males are pushing further west and south into the Hairy Belly Matimba’s territory.

The long withstanding Matimba Male is not putting up a fight.

Are these males here to stay?

Well, now where did I write that she can conceive?!  I'm pushing hypotheticals, like you are.  We'll just have to wait and see.  I think that she's not likely to conceive and nowhere did I write she would.  I also don't think Aunty Othawa will...though having said that, it wouldn't be surprising if she already came into estrus recently or will soon.  It's about that time because Junior is over 2.5 now.
