There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.
One of the senior members of the Southern Pride, this lioness is easily distinguished by her floppy ear. for some reason she had an empty belly on this morning while the rest of the pride had fed well during the night. Image credit: James Tyrell Sabi Sands,April 2013
In an outrageous display of strength, one of the Majingilane picks up a giraffe carcass weighing probably in excess of 200kg and moves it a good 150m. We think this male robbed the South Pride of this kill. Their tracks were in the area and some of the carcass had already been eaten; too much for the male to have eaten by himself Image credit: James Tyrell April 2013,Sabi Sands Game Reserve,SA

HB found a whole Mhangeni pride with Othawa male on a kill, he was thinking about it to engage, but afterall decide not to as he was looking quite full (prime HB would run in and engage without a thinking, but at this age he prob knows himself that this is not the best idea) :

You mean cubs with Aunty Othawa or again with Sassy? He is the father of the 3 youngest Othawa cubs. At least there's a 50 percent chance. More importantly, in his mind, they are his; whether they are technically or not, only a lab test could possibly determine with conviction. He might even suspect his brother could have sired them, but he's taken them on as his own regardless. I hope at least one or two are his because he's probably got the better genes of the 2 brothers, in my personal opinion...A sly, long-living, and disease-free lion! (Knock on wood to keep the disease part at bay)) I'm so rooting for this lion. He's remarkable!

With the Othawa lionesses in general.
he was been seen mating with junior mom, so hopefully more cubs on the way
" We set out to find the four N’waswishaka male lions and found them not far from where they were last seen, relaxing as the sun set. They sat up to give a few yawns but did not seem too interested in moving on anytime soon. "
The scars on a lion's face are often attributed to battles fought, rivals chased off, and a life defending territory and pride against usurpers. More often than not though, these scars are inflicted by kin. All ideas of being a social creature get tossed out the window when there's food at stake and lions revert back to their raw, savagely individual selves.
