I think there were a few reasons as to why things happened the way they did in regards to the Nkhulu/Southern Avoca/Gijima situation. At first, the Nkhulus were nomads without a territory so at this point they were actively pursuing to take over a pride and had a more aggressive mindset. Southern Avocas tried their best to resist and landed the first blow by beating up Dreadlocks but ultimately they were always going to be up against it. Although they were still in good condition and a formidable duo having proved it many times over the years the fact remains they were still ageing males and their experience told them it was a contest they had no hope of winning, so by definition they abandoned their pride and territory due to the pressure imposed upon them by Nkhulus. Similar to what Makhulu and Pretty Boy did after being pressured by Selatis or as mentioned what Hairy Belly and Ginger did after being pressured by Birminghams.

The difference now is Nkhulus already have a substantial territory and two prides which is largely keeping them occupied although Smudge and Snip Tail seem more ambitious and wanting to expand further. But, they lack serious support from the rest of their brothers so this is why Gijimas have been able to resist their advances so far. Add to that the Gijimas are two strong males in their prime unlike the Southern Avocas who were older and not looking for a fight at that stage of their lives.

@sik94 tbf Nkuhlu were all healthy when they ousted S.Avoca, exception being #6.

@Tr1x24 Nkuhlu aren't pushing together, but we don't know if it's because they aren't strong enough to do so, or if they are simply not interested in taking new prides and territories right now.

Only time they made a full challenge for Gijima territory was when they were still nomads, it took 1h of back and forth for Gijimas to finally chase them for good.

These incursions they sometimes make are just exploring imo, since becaming territorial they have never invaded anyone roaring to try to take more land and prides. Gijimas invade them more often than not.

With Ndhzengas they just heard the roars and moved off, they never even met or got into a chasing match, they were like "there're territorial males here huh, let's go back home then".

The fact that 4 Nkuhlu initially chased the Gijimas in Gijima territory, which only stopped when LM Gijima turned and physically attacked them, shows how strong in numbers the Nkuhlu are.

IMO they have not expanded for lack of strength, just a lack of will, being more interested in what they currently have, which is normal given how much land, females and very small cubs they have.

It's like PCM with Ndhzenga, only border clashes and incursions, not really takeover attempts. Difference is that a PCM takeover attempt would be extremely difficuly 2v2, while Nkhulu would have a huge advantage even in a 4v2, never mind 5v2.

Looks like KM X S.Avoca are fully trying to become territorial around Singita / Londolozi boundary, bad news for Tsalala when she has more cubs if they stick around.

Interesting that they weren’t involved in the conflict when PCMs and Ndzengas were duelling in Londolozi, although that may partly be because both PCMs and Ndzengas were initially in the North and the altercation most likely started there too.

I don’t think these two can match the other coalitions, but as seen with them chasing one PCM already, when an advantage is there they’ll take it. Wish nothing but the best for the old guys.

Besides a good place in terms of prey what is there for them to hold? They are between two coalitions that no one wants to mess with and its not like they are used to the area like Tumbela, Im not going to talk about prides because I doubt thats what is on their mind in this stage of their life, but there isnt really a pride there either

Personally I would not underestimate them. Both were kings far a reason. Kruger male dominated Imbali male (who was quite a powerhouse himself) 1 on 1 and the Avoca male probably can fight well too. Also both are well fed and in perfect condition. They are underdogs in the neighbourhood but I believe they still would be a serious threat to any other duo.

They also had the confidence to chase off 1 of the PC males, controlling a pride might not be in the plans but mating with female is always wanted

From 1 encounter we know, S8 got the female, not Kruger male.

Kruger male was in rpoccess of taking over Imbali male territory and just before Imbali male's death he did beat him up quite badly.

So do we know now that it was Kruger male who injured S8's head just before he died? In that fight people thought it was against Red Road?

As far as I remember at first it was suspected he fought Red Road and later on it was confirmed he actually fought Kruger male. Also personally I would add that makes much more sense considering where those 3 males were operating. For me from the get go suspecting he fought red Road was a bit odd.
