It was funny how he ran in blindly and then saw 5 huge males just laying down. He made a very quick assessment and was like nah, not today lmao I was almost expecting him to assume he was already too far in and just go for it but that would have been a very bad decision.

Gijimas are seen occassionaly pushing quite far east into Kirkmans Kamp, aswell as north into Londolozi.

Duo is very confident, as we can see how LM Gijima immidiately tried to engage blindly, but realized it was a mistake when he saw 5 males lying there.

Its stated that it was in Nkhulus territory.

Does someone have original video/source?

From the private account ecksonsithole on ig. Seen it first on LionLovers twitter post and apparently they were chasing each other back and forth for most of the day.

First ever defeat from the Gijimas since they became dominant... And a dangerous one, Nkhulus now know that nothing is stopping them from going further west.

The ability lions have to sense each other's strength almost looks like magic. If it was back when the Gijimas weren't fully territorial and dominant males, the Gijimas may have had come full speed and sent them scattering, they did won a clash against 6 after all.

But now they went slowly, ST was retreating but soon sensed their weakeness, saw they were only 2 and LM Gijima seeing how many Nkhukus there were, didn't think twice and left.

Still, Nkhulus are having problems with food, Delaporte is in bad shape and one of the Nkhulus seemingly had issues on both hindlimbs while running, so if they split in the next months, the Gijimas may be able to hold the line.

@KM600 do you have a source/original claim that they were chasing each other back ans forth?

That'd have been great for the Gijimas instead of a complete defeat. One of the Nkhulus could barely run and another one didn't even try to so it wouldn't be impossible for the Gijimas to try to isolate one of them.

They didn't look like the healthiest lions. To be honest it might be better for the local lion population if one or two were to disappear or split off. Do you know why they are having problems with food? Just no lionesses hunting for them?

I dont think its food problem.

2 of them have health issues/limp.

Dreadlocks aswell and looks like age is starting to show on him.

Snip Tailed male and Smudge nosed ones always look in top condition.

Thats a bit harsh to say.

This was not a takeover attempt or anything, just Gijimas bumping on their neighbours, on their territory, which lead to chasing (back and forth apperantly) and Gijimas prob eventually retreated back.

Just speculation and I can’t double check cos the account is private, but I believe it to be true. At the start of the video, 2 Nkhulus were obviously getting chased before realising they actually had the advantage, almost like the past back and forths were more even and the Gijimas come out ahead.

That's not a defeat. lol. They were in hostile territory and in an un-winable and unnecessary potential fight. A fight didn't even happen and you're already putting a defeat in their name, they made the best possible decision and that's a victory in my book.

where? to me it looked like the 5 Nkhulus were resting and they suddenly heard footsteps and a couple of them instinctively tried to get away before realizing It's just 2 males and went after them. Nkhulus were doing the chasing after being rudely woken up by the neighbors, not the other way around.

Good eye. Just watched it back and there was one not two Nkhulu males but he looked like he was aware of their presence and didn’t really know how to deal with the situation, not instantly realising he and his brothers had the advantage. Just thought the video had cut off and skipped to him retreating but it does indeed look like he was lying down. I actually think the 5 Nkhulu males would have scattered if both Gijimas kept heading forward but as soon as they become unsure, Nkhulus instantly counter attacked. Glad it didn’t result into any fighting.

Two of the Nkhulu's appeared to have issues with their rear legs and looked very uncomfortable trying to run.

That was almost a very bad decision by the smaller gijima, and was that snip tail that ran first or smudge nose

I doubt they would have scattered, that's not a risk you ever wanna take. They were very quick to give chase, that would have been a repeat of KT vs the Majingalane but worse.

They are still young inexperienced lions. And lions make mistakes.
