Bad news. That the two males didnt fight eachother means they are now both just parasiting on the Othawa youngsters.

Yes because I'm sure it was these two young subs that brought down the buffalo they were all eating.

Those two subs dont need buffalo to have enough to eat this stage of their lives and males cannot be relied on to hunt full time for a pride. They just dont provide for prides like that.

They had buffalo now. But next times they will go hungry if they catch more normal prey. Just to feed two males that evidently have no interest in protecting them. Even worse. Nhenha may still try to kill them later.

Now that nhenha has met the girls and hopefully feeds then he shouldn’t be so aggressive toward them in the future (hopefully)

The girls are showing to be excellent huntresses…having a male around s will help them keep their kill and not lose it to hyenas.

I’d love to see pictures on Tumbela and his girls hunting the buffalo.

There’s a cool story about some skeleton coast lions, there were 2 young orphan Cubs and they made it to a bird nesting ground and survived by hunting birds and eventually scavenging and hunting seals and other bigger game. They are now adults and one of the orphan sisters has 3 Cubs!
Their mother’s death was shown on a BBC series…I think planet earth? The auntie adult lioness rejected them.
The Ottawa girls are more then likely hunting a lot of small game. They learned just enough from Sassy so her influence is helping these girls survive.
I do wonder if they climb trees to get away from hyenas?

Highly unlikely 2 sub females brought that adult buffalo down, it was prob Tumbela who did it, with their small help, it was not first time he killed adult buffalo alone.

2 girls are way too small and weak to be capable to bring down and kill adult buffalo.

So yea, looks like 2 girls are "parasiting" their father, and not other way around.

Males do hunt, and are better hunters then females, so stop this narative that Tumbela will only steal kills from them and will not help in hunts, he definitely will.

In the case of the Buffalo, yes. But its not like Skorro is going to bring one down every week for the next year.

The more normal kills for lionesses of that size are not likely to leave them much food once the males are done eating.

Dont think Nhenha will stick with them, apperantly he is very weak and didn't even feed.

Yeah I was being sarcastic. Not always obvious through text. We've seen that Skorro Jr. is a very capable buffalo hunter so it just seemed so obvious that he was probably the one to bring it down, and kinda ridiculous to think that he was 'parasiting'.

I was more talking about in the general sense. Not in that specific case.
It takes a lot of food to keep a male around. But if the male is willing to defend them against other male lions. Its worth it.
If he isnt however, then the relationship can become parasitic pretty fast.

Though that was more based on the idea that he was more or less letting Nhenha join in to eat. which apparently wasnt the case.

It seems now it is more likely that Skorro never noticed him or did rebuke him. Though didnt want risking losing his opportunity to feed on the kill while chasing Nhenha away properly.
So Nhenha is now sticking close by. Hoping that eventually Skorro and the pride move on and leave him some scraps.
Which is clever, but also riskfull. Not only may Skorro choose to chase him of. The kill may also attract hyenas and other trouble for him.

Nhena really has some guts, very few lions in his old age play with fire like he did with the 2 PCs. Atleast he got to that meal which tells me he'll have the energy to feed when it cools down, he's clearly had a very serious second altercation because his back wasn't badly scarred like that. If he makes it through this, he goes straight to legendary status in Sabi Sands.
