Does anyone know which lion this is in Manyeleti? And is this a snare wound? Looks super painful..
I assume the photos are recent. Tagged Mantonebi, which is northern Manyeleti, close to Orpen and Timbavati border.

Must have been taken not long after he got caught in the snare since the wounds were still fresh. Hate that he made it through all that just to end up disappearing recently.
Thanks! Was worried for another human-wildlife conflict in Manyeleti.. luckily that is not the case. Yes.. I hate it too that he seems to have dissapeared, a lion that survived hardship and made a comeback..
Havent been here in a while, from what I've heard Tintswalo males split up? Can anyone give me an update please.
Tintswalo male Ncila is dead, last sighting of him he was a few hundred meters from 1/2 Mongawane male. Maybe Mongawanes killed him but even if not, he vanished and Mongawanes seems to be taking the Skorro pride that belonged to Tintawalos.
Mandevu visits Manyeleti and the Mbiri pride from time to time since Ncila's death and has been seen with the Orpen son multiple times, be it in Kruger or Manyeleti. The Orpen son is the young male that they accepted when they took over their natal pride right?
Mbiri priee is doing ok but out of their 3 cub only one is alive.
And yes that the Orpen son, half brother or cousin to Mandevu. After recently seeing the images of the lioness who lost her life from being strangled, because the collar that was placed on her got caught on a buffalo's horn, I do wish they would come up with another solution. |
