That is why you see heights of up to 120 cm for lions, the often quoted heigh is not a real standing height. I don't know why the people don't see this if Smuts say it clearly in his document, even Dr Sunquist fall in this error. To be honest, I have not saw a shoulder measurement of Bengal tigers in modern documents, but some from Sumatran tigers are taken in that same way. From Russia one video shows that they take it in sections, not in one take.
