Photo from Hassan, think his account is linked above on the previous page. I’d imagine this was Sekekama around 2017 / 2018, atleast from his looks. I know ppl maybe won’t see 13 years as a territorial male as impressive as a lion from Sabi Sands, Masai Mara etc being as they are seen as more competitive areas, but make no mistake this is one of the most legendary lions to ever exist. Just because we don’t know the area anywhere near as well, doesn’t mean they wasn’t constantly having conflicts with other males protecting their huge territory, which if we remember, was first taken over when they were a coalition of 5.

What a legendary male he was. I recall, distinctly, the surprise I got, years after I was introduced to him through SK, when I figured that like so many other males who had come and gone during that time he was surely gone, only to find out he was still ruling, raising cubs, with no sign of slowing down. Absolutely incredible story!

Exact same with me, I even started double checking the video and photos I had seen were up to date. I think him and TornNose just disappeared around the exact month I joined Wildfact, the selfish old boys couldn't even give me a few more months to sing their praise while they were still living Sad Lol

I have some bad news unfortunately, the below skull is believed to belong to the missing Sekoti, found in the North Savuti, a frequent place for the Renegades. Waziba and Romeo have 100% been spotted since Sekoti was last seen, not so sure with Pretty Boy II, but it makes most sense to be Sekoti. The skull was found under a thick tree, almost like the male knew his time was coming. This is not 100% confirmed but I believe it’s time to say goodbye to him.

A legendary lion who left his pride as a solitary male, was rejected by his 3 older brothers and even harassed to the point Sekekama and TornNose had to save him once or twice, was also beaten by Pretty Boy quite badly too. Ended up sticking around Marsh Pride territory binding his time until his younger brothers were ready to take territory from his older brother Pretty Boy. Helped rebuild the Northern Pride to a powerhouse and its very likely his brothers will further expand and spread their bloodline.

Died as a king and no doubt left some offspring thru the numerous male and female subadults in the Northern Pride. Rest easy Sekoti.

Seems that post may have been deleted. Regardless, it is very sad news, indeed, but I cannot say it is all too surprising, given his condition in those final few sightings. I wish we knew what he was afflicted with.

Ye Hassan said he deleted cos there’s no official dna evidence, and ofc nobody seen him die, plus ppl are saying the fangs may be a bit different from Sekotis. I will keep my post up tho, as the male was found in their territory and nobody knows of any conflict they’ve had with outside males. Would love to be proved wrong, but unfortunately it is very likely to be him.

Yeah, I think you are likely right. He was literally wasting away before our eyes, due to some unknown cause.

Apologies, it’s been said the skull is that of a hyena on account of some specialists, normally I would say that’s good news but Sekoti obviously still hasn’t been seen. Looking back at it now, I can see the hyena comparisons, with the pushed back head structure where the face would’ve been. The canines were quite straight for a male lion too.

We'll take it as a positive sign, in light of any other evidence, either way.

Romeo, clearly the larger more aggressive of the two, having a dispute with Waziba, over a fresh zebra kill. The lioness and the cubs seem to pay the biggest price of the conflict, by being driven off the kill.
