There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

A lioness will do EVERYTHING to save her family!
Warrior for her precious pride! A lioness saves her cubs and the prides cubs from the croc.
Scanning the surface of the water, her amber eyes alight upon a threat to her pride – a deadly crocodile lurking in the river that the family of lions must cross. The fiercely protective lioness did not hesitate, leaping into the water and grappling with the reptile to allow the rest of the pride to cross the river in safety.

These images show the magnificent big cat fastening her front legs around the crocodile’s jaws and dunking it underneath the water before making a break for the river bank in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. The lioness’ brave diversion tactics were witnessed by wildlife photographer Pia Dierick
The photographer had been peacefully observing the lioness and her pride going about their business around the river when the sudden clash between the big cat and the crocodile occurred. The photographer said the struggle took place within one second.

2013 By Lizzie Edmonds These dramatic images show a young lion fighting for his life after a two-hour battle with an older male. Styx male ( majingi son) vs the nkuhuma (zisani male)

In the incredible series of pictures, the bloodied lion bares his teeth and raises its claws in an attempt to take on the older male in Cheetah Plains, South Africa.

But the youngster opponent is too strong for him - landing blow after blow with his enormous claws.

The young male is part of a pride of two adult females, two sub-adult females and another sub-adult male.

*This image is copyright of its original author

The lone male had been mating with the two older females, but the area is surrounded by other male coalitions - some six-strong - who could easily sweep him aside.

Photographer Justin Glanvill described the action as spectacular

But the amount of heart the young male lion had was also unbelievable - he stood up to a much older and stronger male and fought with all his might.

Beverly Joubert is in worse condition but should recover well.
