There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Mating lions -

The male wanted to mate however the female was not up for it. The male came behind and tried to mate but the female jumped up and round and got very angry. This was the moment clicked.

Shaaz Jung Photography:
The King | Pray to the Darkness

The lonesome king. Know better than to awaken him from his sleepy slumber. For life is not a game of chess where the king becomes futile when surrounded. Life in the jungle is real and when the king is surrounded by darkness, your reality, just like your vision, will slowly start to melt. Fear the king at dark, for even an atheist half believes in god by midnight.

And there i was, alone with the lonesome king. Above us, a milky river meandered through a cluster of stars that illuminated the sky. The horizon was remote, nothing but a distant glow on the edge of our worlds. This was the dark side of nature, this was where true beauty lay hidden. It took an absolute absence of light for me to see it and i finally understood why the king often gazed into the endless sea of black. I could have sworn he was praying to it.

@Majingilane:

For the big cats too, the black and white photos are often marvelous. This one (#337) is beautiful, and also the text that comes with it.

There is just something about a big male lion that is so magnificent, this guy was new in the area and had just taken over with his brother and with out a dout was an impressive lion.

I spoke about the beauty of the black and white photos. This last one (#340) borders on the sublime !

Treks in Africa:
The unmistakable presence of nobility. Moving with the unruffled calm of a cat and the dignified gait of someone in command, He has no need to walk or talk quickly since he is never in danger of being ignored. Every now and then, he will play to his gruff reputation by dramatically reprimanding a subordinate, but... underneath all his hissing and scratching, he is still a pussycat at heart...

LinRu Photography:
An amazing end to an amazing day that I spent with this lion pride from before sunrise to shortly after sunset... This male of the Rooiputs pride followed the lioness and two cubs to their den in the red dunes of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park - It was about a 3km hike, but the cubs did it all play-play...

When the lioness and cubs disappeared into the dunes at the end of the day, the male announced in the dry Nossob riverbed that he was standing guard that evening, seeing that a coalition of three young males was trying to take over the Rooiputs pride during January 2016...

Click on it, it's a video.
