There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Sanjeev Managoli
Nile crocodile feasting on Topi carcass

=============================
We were waiting near a carrion of an adult Topi that was lying in a rivulet, expecting the big Leopard which had made the kill, to show up.
In an amazement sighting, a mid-sized Nile crocodile stealthily appeared from nowhere and started to gobble and gormandize on this Topi corpse ..
That is when the Leopard came out of the bramble and the bushes and chased away the crocodile, everything happening very expeditiously..
(Crocodylus niloticus) &  (Damaliscus lunatus jimela)
November 2019,
Maasai Mara National Reserve,
Narok County, Kenya...

@Spalea That was baby Warthog, not a Bushpig.

@Luipaard

The cow in your picture did not have any other herd member to save it.

Here is another Leopard taking down a cow.

The Leopard was pinning the cow to the ground, until one of its buddies moved the Leopard from the advantageous position. This helped the fallen cow escape.

So stay on leopards, thanks.

Ngala

I'm not interested in what leopard killed a little animal or little/medium sized antelope. I like big and dangerous prey of leopard/ other cat. Not enough good videographers. It's a shame for 2018.

It was posted on r/natureismetal, but here is the original source:

Where I found it.

It might be a smaller female, but even small Crocodiles are still dangerous.

Found some stuff on leopard predation on adult gnu.
No pictures for this one, just a screenshot from the book “The Serengeti Lion”
You’ll also notice how it’s says “five fully grown hartebeest” which is also pretty impressive

Roshan Joshi-Cattle kill is a main prey base for the Leopard's, that are resident at the hill of Jawai.

We were in our morning safari and suddenly heard a Calf cry. When turned behind, witnessed this eye watering sight. It was really painful to see and hear the poor calf fighting for life but that's the nature cycle.

"Some amazing viewing whilst on safari at Singita Boulders lodge. The Kashane male leopard with not one, but two kills in a single tree. The first, a Zebra foal, and on the right, an Aardvark!!!" (photo by Chris Renshaw)
