yeah it's strange they don't carry scales that can take larger weights when they weigh tigers, but in the case of Madla I'm very curious because he looks so big maybe @GuateGojira can explain how he just estimated that Madla was 250 kg.

yeah large tigers can reach 250 kg probably quite more often than lions. although they are far between imo, there are probably tigers in Kaziranga that can reach 280 kg (personally sceptical about 300 kg, but also of the opinion that it's not impossible)  can you  imagine what that would look like.

Guate just adjusted the for average food intake from the 272kg mark. It was the most conservative approach and its all we can scientifically prove, so I think thats why he did it that way.

To be honest, I can't imagine a cat larger than the one being hauled off on that elephant, so anything larger than that is unimaginable for me. I wish we knew what he weighed? But its impossible for me to really imagine since I have only seen zoo bred cats in person, maybe after I travel to africa and see them in person I will be able to imagine them a bit better.

When I was 2 feet away from the male one horned Rhino at the Safari Animal Park in SD, it blew me away. How something that large can be alive, astonished me. Even viewing the elephants isn't the same since I;m usually seeing them from a far or above. I can honestly say, you have no idea the size of something until its right there in front of you. Which you of course, have far more expertise than I.

okei thanks @Pckts nice to know, would be interesting to know the actual weight though sad we have so little modern weights on tigers especially from the places they likely will grow biggest(Kaziranga, Corbett and Terai etc) same thing goes for lions (Ngorongoro Crater and the Okavango Delta etc) for that sake. I'm sure we could find some golden weights that would just blow us away.

yes the big tiger on the elephant in Nepal well that's just how big a cat can get in my opinion that's gotta be around the maximum limit, i've watched the video again and again, although it's sad to see such a specimen go to waste, the size is just freaking amazing. maybe this guy is of the same caliber

yeah I know exactly what you're talking about when you're close up it's just incredible to see the size I know what you're talking about rhino, also gaur and cape buffalos gives you an eye opener. big cats are the same I've had 250 kg male lion face to face many times and the same goes with tigers around 200 kg it's special and they are huge.
but to see the wild is even much greater. hope you will se a lion of Caesar's size when you go to Serengeti!

I have never paid much attention to the BMW male, I never saw enough images of him to think of him as a special individual.
That has all changed, do your self a favor and watch the entire video from beginning to end... it may be the best video of a tiger on safari I have ever seen. Not because its a never before seen moment, but for the fact that it goes on and on, uninterrupted and you get to view such a massive cat for soo long.

Here are some images and the video to follow

Son of Raja from Bandipur.
This new boy is seen in Raja's prime territory.
@Roflcopters called him to be "Gauri Shankar".

Thanks for the video.
There is a female involved too, I guess its rare to see tigress play a part when males challenging.
Can you tell me the story behind this fight.

Thanks
