Troubling news surfacing from Mala Mala.

They have discovered a dead lion.   Suspected to be female and Kambula.

They have not  ID since hyenas were seen consuming the carcass.

I am seeing reports on FB that it was 1/2 Kambula Breakaways but I cannot corroborate.

If it is an adult, it would be the first fatality of these great 6 lionesses.   More to come hopefully soon

Damn, very sad. I hope it was not the mother of the subs, otherwise they'll be in trouble.

Was this possibly one of the 2 lionesses with the last Birmingham Cubs?

A lot of mixed opinions on possible ID.

The photographers of this footage thought it looked like a young lion so a lot of people believe it’s actually 1/2 of those Last Birmingham subs.

Another opinion (that is based on this fb report of a sick lioness) is that it’s one of the new mothers.

I’m holding out on any conclusions because it’s all guessing ATM.   We may have to use procesa of elimination to get proper conclusions.

We do know it is NOT any member of the Sub adult group of 4 boys and the sister.   Those 4 were all accounted for yesterday.

A message from Londolozi this morning intimates there are actually TWO dead Kambulas.

Vets have been called in.   This makes me wonder if it isn’t a natural cause situation.

No IDs yet.

Oh no, if thats the case, some kind of poisoning is likely cause, although it can be some bacteria outbreak aswell.

Hope they find the cause soon, last thing we want some bacteria outbreak to decimate lion population.

That is sad. I hope they didnt suffer.

We probably shouldnt jump to conclusions though. There are multiple of causes that can kill two lionesses quickly after eachother.

If both suden got ill and died, there is not much probabilities what happened, chances that both got bit by snake at almost the same time is almost 0.

Unless 2nd dead lioness got killed.
