Yes they are six years of age? The problem would there are stronger lions? Seven, eight, nine years of age?
Have all four Kambula male lions fought and been hurt, injured?

The 3 older brothers (K3, K4 and K5) are 6 years old +
The younger (K6) is 5,5 years old, something like that i think.

The experience that comes along with age is definitly on the side of the other males in Sabi Sand, but Kambulas are in prime physical condition. Alr said so and dont want to be repetitive, but they ain't getting any stronger or bigger (except for K6 perhaps).
No matter the age, they still got a upperhand that can/could be useful at any interaction with rival coalitions... Numbers. Outnumbering every single coalition in the reserve, having twice as many members, (except for Nkuhlus). Thats why even with their weakling behavior, a key could turn one day, thats something i have believe and we've been saying for more than a year now thought, still nothing lol.

With each passing sightings I am getting a stronger conviction that these four nothern kboys will not be able to rule any prides in s.s.

These four nothern kboys are 5.5 - 6yrs already and in their absolute prime but have yet accomplished anything. Maybe s.s. coalitions are too strong for them.

Maybe and hopefully they can achieve their life's goal in the KNP

Plain camp were six and still got stronger now seven. Maybe Kambula male lions will not change much, but Nukhulu male lions once with lionesses they changed.

The four Kambula male lions; I would say more than most lions were around many strong lions. Birmingham male lions, Kambula lionesses, they were six Kambula lionesses, and they had older sisters and two a few month older bros. Also they are three Kambula bros and one younger bro. Seems roles are not clear. Many beatings they have taken.

Nkuhuma male lion may lead them.

Males are generally in their prime from 7-10 years of age. Look at all the top duos in Sabi Sands at the moment: PC, Mantimahle, Gijimas, N'Waswitshakas. They all fall into this age bracket.

When I saw that the other three were together and had left the north, I just had a feeling this was going to happen to K6. He seems to have been pretty lucky though, up on his feet soon afterwards, unlike when he got attacked by the Gijimas. I wonder who it was this time.

Just when you thought these boys might be getting their act together, they go and bounce around again, leaving one of their brothers to get mauled. We've seen them mating and roaring, but I don't recall seeing them patrolling or scent-marking. They're still behaving half territorial and half like nomads.

K4 being injured really hold them back in taking over the North this past month. Also it seems like K5 is the reason for their roaming behavior it is always K5 leading them, when I see a video of them roaming K5 always lead one or two Kambulas like their time when K5 is in Umkumbe with K3 and when K5 is with K6 in Londolozi seems like K5 demeanor is affecting the whole coalition. It is like herd mentality, seems like K5 demeanor is affecting their behavior. I concluded this because any videos that I see of K5 he does not display an asserting behavior even when there is literally female lioness skirting her ass to mate with him. Also if I remember correctly this is also the behavior of Lambile of the Tintswalo Male when he is sickly (maybe TB) and when Mandevu is with him it also seems like Mandevu demeanor changes and also that is why when Lambile did die from illness a guide in Manyeleti said it may be more good for Mandevu because it seems Lambile is holding Mandevu and Ncila back. (This is when Mbiri Males is always entering their territory like it is theirs it is more of Tintswalo Males retreating rather than them pushing them back.)

Yes K5 does seem to be always leading the way on their wandering trips. And as you noted, it's always one of the other males with K5 when they're suddenly spotted somewhere else. His behaviour does seem to make him the odd one out. Maybe that's why he got targeted by Red Road?

I can imagine that having a brother that lacks confidence and is more likely to avoid conflict would also make the other male(s) less confident in conflicts with other males. Not to put any 'blame' on K5, but it could be that his behaviour is affecting the others' mental states. Though I'm sure there are examples where this wasn't the case.

How many times has this happened now with Kambulas where one of them has somehow been isolated, caught alone and mauled by rival males?
To their credit, each time they have managed to escape and recover from their injuries but I think it’s reasonable to say at this point that’s probably more down to luck than judgement. From what I remember these are the instances we know about unless I have forgotten any please feel free to add them;

- K3 & Gijimas
- K6 & Gijimas
- K5 & PCM’s
- K5 & Red Road
- K4 & Mantimahle
- K6 & Unknown

K5 had few more.

1 time before his PCM fight, around early 2024 or late 2023, seen with bite marks on his back, and 1 time not long ago, although minor one (some of those might not be necessary from other territorial males tho).

I think K5 had most fights/mauling out of them, might be reason why he currently behaves like he does.

Problem now is that with all this lost clashes, their confidence in each others, and trust, might be hard to reestablish (it was not great in the first place).

I noticed a while ago (sometime not long after their clashes with the S.BDMs) that K4 had scars on his back, indicating he might have been caught by multiple males, which was odd because at the time he was the only one thought not to have been caught and given a beating by two males. I always wondered if maybe he had been caught by the two S.BDMs, but just like when they caught Amahle, they didn't do any serious damage. Obviously I can only speculate as there was never any evidence of that, but that would be another instance.

As things stands right now, K4 has been caught once and I think all others have been caught at least twice.

They should be able to click and stand their ground as a strong unit, any time now, but they keep getting beaten up and acting semi-nomadic time after time in an eternal cycle that makes one doubt if they'll ever click. I think they must have the potential, like any other normal healthy lion, but I doubt we'll see it happening because chances are they'll lose members before all 4 can decide to stand their ground together.

The fact all 4 are still alive is unbelievable, I can't think of any other coalition caught so many times which didn't lose any members.
