K4 FOUND CURRENTLY INJURED IN SOUTH WEST OF CHITWA (seems this is why there are only 3 sighted)

*This image is copyright of its original author

*Seems K4 did go solo (like he did when he was alone when Chela was killed) and it did not go well for him.*
*The other 3 brothers is last seen 4 days ago in Londolozi boundary. (the sighting with K6 Ntsevu) *

Hopefully he recovers fast and hoping his 3 brothers regroup with him and provide him food and security as he is limping right now, this is a lesson for the Kambula Coalition that staying together is their strongest traits as being in 4 together will always be good for them.

And the same story repeats itself again.

It's unreal how none of them have died so far when all 4 have been caught, some of them multiple times, I don't think I've ever seen a nomadic coalition been caught by other males so many times without losing members, usually if you get caught once, you're already lucky to escape alive and without permanent injuries.

But it was exactly what I was saying, this new takeover attempt would never work unless all 4 were working together as a strong unit.

This time either K4 remained alone while the others lost interest in territorial stuff, then got caught by S.Avoca/Kruger, Mantimahles or PCM, or either Mantimahle/PCM chased the 4 of them and caught K4... Maybe even Kruger/S.Avoca could have done it? I'm not sure, I'd imagine 4 Kambulas to be stronger than them but who knows.

If their luck runs out before they become a strong 4 male unit, and they lose a member, then suddenly they go from "potential to rule for many years and sire many cubs" to "will they be successful?".

Injuries doesnt look that recent, defiently few days old, he was last seen alone with NKs roaring on 9th, prob happened then.

Shame for him, as he only looks to behave like territorial, for almost a 1 year.

One post here says it was the Mantimahles.  Guides have reported it supposedly.

Was going to reply this very thing, that I believe the Mantimahles to be the most likely culprits. That injury looks really bad, and if he can't get to his brothers soon, he is in big trouble. These cats can loose condition really quick, as we've all seen countless times. It looked for quite some time, that he was the most dominant of the four, even if he is able to meet up with his brothers, he won't be the most dominant anymore, for some time to come, as a result of this.

Well, he was lucky he didnt get killed or bleeded to death. Now main problem is can he get mobile and find his brothers/scavenge fast enough before he lose condition.

We can say a lot for them as a unit, but individually, all of them survived mauling by territorial males, which speaks that these guys individually are strong, but they just struggle as unit.

Idk why, but these guys just cant "click" and work together, its like they are coalition made of random nomads who meet few months ago, and not brothers from birth.

With K4 down for quite some time (if he recovers) idk what other 3 will do (worst thing they move off and leave K4 alone).

From what we saw so far, without K4, they prob dont stand a chance vs Sabi Sand duos, not with that "teamplay".

i think this was discussed here or other topic previously. They have been relaying almost on bare luck to survive during this year.

I wish i could say im surprised this happened, but im not.

As you say without K4 things will surely get different until he recovers. I think they will get slower in their approach, if thats even possible.

There is always the possibility of a key turn, but i doubt. Also lets see how K4 recovers, physically he can recover in perhaps a month? idk
But mentally to recover his confidence is more unpredictable.

Thing is, in all these clashes where they got caught, except partly RRM clash, we dont know what happened and where the problem is, we only see outcome, which is frustating.

That back leg muscle looks ripped, he will be limping for months, thats if the bone is fine.

IMO thats the worst looking injury that any of them sustained after those innumerous beatings. I hope he can recover without permanent damage, that would be really bad not only for him but for his brothers.
btw anything on the other 3? i havent seen anything since they were mating at Londolozi

If its muscle, it can be another injury like BDM as wich would be such a shame, due to everything going around them and the way he got it without a reason, sadly his brothers prefering to play" catch the buffalos" besides being serious about being dominant males, wich yeah they do them and etc but its quite "annoying" ( for lack of a better words) from our point of view
Anyway I just hope its just muscle because even worse than breaking a bone is an injured tendon

I agree with this, completely. I really wish we could get full context of how these incidents played out. Was he alone, if not did his brothers try to help, did they leave him to be mauled? As you mentioned, their teamwork is the most puzzling aspect of the entire thing, given they have been with one another since birth. Some sort of hierarchy should have been established from the time they were cubs. They should have had some understanding of who is the strongest, etc... It seems from the time the Nwas took over the pride, that they are comfortable with just floating wherever the breeze takes them, there is no continuity, or initiative. They really remind me of a coalition of NYMs, which I am not sure I have ever seen.

There have been many coalitions who I was very unsure on their ability to thrive as territorial/dominant males, the Nwas being one such coalition, and none more so than the Tumbelas. Not because of the apparent illness that two of them had early on, but for their seeming lack of confidence, on any level, at the time they became dominant, understandably so.

However, we see no such lack of confidence, on a singular level, from any of the K4s, and we have not been given many opportunities to see how they function as a unit, only brief glimpses and aftermaths. Alone, they each appear more than willing to scrap it out with anyone. But, their cohesiveness as a unit is what seems to be lacking, almost entirely. Perhaps they are all like NYM, in that they are just happy roaming around, without responsibilities (in a manner of speaking of course). I am almost 60, and I have friends I have known since my school days that either have never married or only married for very brief stints. They simply seem happiest floating on the breeze, free to continue to play the field. Point being, perhaps some things we might expect of a creature might just not be for certain individuals. You can't say they were not exposed to how a coalition is supposed to function, Tinyo and Nhenha worked wonderfully together. Even after losing the Kambulas, and to his dying day, Nhenha remained with a singular goal, to be territorial and dominant.
