Well, that is what the guide in the North have said that BDMs did not really make themselves known that they are there, I would not say they are fully territorial when they are not announcing their presence.

They are still nomads at this point wandering in Manyeleti to Sabi Sands they have no territory.

Again, they are still nomads at this time and have no territory and from what you said they retreated but do you know male lions chased back and forth when confronting just because they retreated doesn't mean they retreated they sort of chase back and forth and who is the prime littermate in the Kambulas when all we know is that they are still young and the older 3 Kambulas just reach the age of 6 this September and K6 is 5 years of age on May this year.

Jumping to conclusions that Kambulas controlled a territory when they are still nomads and what not and that K4 with his brothers backing totally backing him up as simply not enough is completely BS.

Interesting points from both sides, but honestly idk if its worth discussing it for so long as if it was relevant.
Im all in for lots of interactions and different opinions being discussed but... Kambulas are what they are, and will be whatever they will be.
There is no other K4, perhaps his brothers can grow to be as confident and strong, perhaps not, but so far they are not.

If things werent really good already with a amazingly healthy and impressive K4, now imagine without his grace for whatever the time it takes for him to recover (IF he recovers).

Agree that infection is the main cause of concern at this point. The holes look to be quite deep, infection can happen quickly I fear. Good thing that he can put weight on his leg, that's a good sign, most likely nothing is broken. So apart from infection risk I think it will heal.

Other real concern imo is starvation (and increasing weakness from not eating). Not urgent atm yet but it may be in a week or so. He does not have a (~ stationary) pride with females to fall back to. Only his brothers but they venture into other areas too much (following buffalo), I wouldn't count on them providing him with meals, at least not regularly, if K4 cannot keep up the pace. That is just hopeful thinking imo.

@sunless I remember the stream were guides said they didn't roar much, this was months after being ousted by Kambulas.

They would roar normally and were fully dominant from January 2023 to late that year, before losing a clash to the Kambulas.

Regardless of what guides said though, history cannot be rewritten, we have the fully territorial history of the S.BDM documented.

As for them being nomads during the RR clash, that's my point, while Tr1x was saying K4 was already fully territorial since months before that.

Prime littermate was K5, he was fully engaged with RR, all K4 had to do was join the fight or try to chase RR who, up against 2, would have to flee.

Instead K4 although going to help, runs immediately after realizing that he got it wrong and the lion losing the fight was K5 not RR.

I also said "territory", not territory. I was clear in saying they were never fully territorial, it's my entire point, none of them are. Tr1x was arguing that K4 was and therefore would consider that area his territory.

Regardless of if he thought of himself as fully territorial ou not, he wasn't strong enough to even attack RR 2v1 in his own "territory", unless he was convinced K5 was already destroying RR 1v1.

So by default, pre-injury K4, even if backed by a brother, wouldn't stand a chance to Mantimahle or PCM. Even if all 4 were like K4 it's doubtful if they could take on such duos, because, as my entire point is, K4 is only a strong male when compared to his brothers ( and not by much ), which is only enough to compete with the likes of S.BDM, surely not PCM or Mantimahle.

If this isn't simple enough, what I'm saying is 1/2 PCM or 1/2 Mantimahle >>> leagues >>> K4.

So K4's brothers cannot be fully "blamed" because it's not like K4 can stand to a strong territorial male and only needed his brothers to be on his level, no, he can't.

Looked back at photos of him after the fight, didn't seem to be there before, so looks like it's new.

@Tr1x24 and @NLAL11 He did in fact have a wound on his head, when he was first seen with his leg injury, I even commented on how he seemed to have suffered a fate like RRM would have given him, with one male holding his face down, while the other worked on his back end, even commented on how he was lucky to have not been castrated, but used different verbiage.

You're right, I think I've found it.

You can also see in this pic, and the one I linked earlier, where the lower canine did damage to his cheek, as well.

K4s are now batting .500, for males having been held down by their face, let us hope K4 is the last one to do so.

Chances are this giraffe is gonna attract other lions, hopefully the other 3 Kambula instead of Mantimahle or Kruger/S.Avoca.
