There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

'Sleepy boy. The new male at Caiman Ecological Refuge shows good signs of being relaxed around tourists, which means we can hopefully continue to get footage and photos of him as he establishes himself in the area.'

According to the photographer, Odin is likely the largest male jaguar he has ever seen. What a brute this guy is.

@Ngonya look at how stunning.

amazing pictures. He looks bulky but not tall, common jaguars weird builds
is he old or just deteriorated/battle scarred?

@Ngonya I believe he may just be battle scarred, he showed up to the area last year so it's hard to know his exact age.

I think with jaguars, sometime bulky males like Odin tend to carry a lot of mass on their midsection which causes them to look shorter than what they actually are. 75-80 cm in SH is a good metric for a large jaguar, generally.

This is Caraí, son of Tchuca, born in 2018 so by now he should be around 5 years of age and is reaching his prime albeit still young. He is one of the largest males currently at Caiman Ecological Refuge. This is my current ranking for males at Caiman who currently reside in the area:

1. Hades

Robusto is still in the area but he's now past his prime and has lost body mass, and up-and-coming males Acerola and Mango both weigh more than 110 kg but they are still 3-year-old sub-adults and I only included males 4+ in this list. Which one is your favorite?

Jafar is stunning, he has such a clean face, looks like he's never been in a fight or at least never been hit in the face ?

Jafar is a young male. I said all the males on the list are 4+ years of age but Jafar could potentially be younger, he's just really massive already. He only appeared in the area a couple of weeks back. Upon his arrival, a sub-adult male named Jerônimo, son of Surya, disappeared from the area, Jafar might've killed in.

Acerola/Iracelmo was also displaced from his territory, which now Jafar rules, and was later found with deep neck wounds that forced the local biologists to remove his collar. It's likely that those wounds were inflicted to him by Jafar during the displacement battles. Guides tell me Jafar is bigger than Acerola who at 3 years of age weighed 116 kg with stomach content. I hope they can capture and track Jafar as well:
