Afternoon Drive.

-Went to the west and saw the two Majingilane males, they had chased the Birminghams of their Buffalo kill, they were all feeding.

If I'm not mistaken the first lion in the above photo is Dark Mane and he looks injured exactly in the same place as he is in this photo taken after the fight.

Mala Mala Reports
FEBRUARY 2010

Five young male lions: (2 sightings)
These are the same 5 young male lions we have viewed in the past; the first sighting of them was when rangers tracked them to a small buffalo kill they had made around fourways. Three of the males as per usual were relaxed while the remaining two moved out of sight. The next morning the tracks of the young males led to two toes open area where three of the young males were found with an adult female buffalo kill. The female buffalo had been lying in the open area since the previous night and so whether the males killed her or not is unknown. The two more nervous males weren’t present and by the next morning all five had returned to the KNP.

@Georgel

Nkorho Rangers are too kind with you after you show there insulting them.

Dear rangers, sorry to say this, but 2 old Majingilanes chasing 3 Birminghams in their prime sounds scifi. (Just a novice opinion.)

Their response is very informative:

About the Majingalane chasing the Birmingham off their kill, does sound crazy, but other ranger's saw it happening. The Birmingham males ran far and they ran fast. Although the Majingalane males are older, they still prove to be very dominant towards other males.
