Maybe a hunting accident or maybe a confrontation with the Kambula Males as there had been an update of K4 with a wound in his back a week ago that looks like from a fight against a male lion but K4 looks okay and fine and have a big belly at that sighting.
Maybe also that Gijima/s encounter the Kruger and Southern Avoca, as who knows where did Southern Avoca got his injuries if its done by PCM when he is in West or if its done by Gijima when they are in South.

The thing is, he's been limping for way more than a week, possibly months.

That person from the instagram post you just shared said a few weeks ago that DM Gijima was limping for a long time now, then he still shows up limping now.

Weird.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Skorro Jr, HIS hips are an example of hips that look terrible, we can't even see the Gijima Male's hips properly in this clip.

Referring to it as terrible looking seems like an exaggeration to attract audience to the video, but it honestly doesn't look good thought.
You can see the protuberant hip bone and the angle looks a bit weird, not to mention what seems like a smudge on his hip that usually 'tb infected' lions have (i might be trippin due to the bad quality and light but it does look a bit like it)

I can see what you are saying, and saw it in the video, but I'd prefer to see him standing/walking, before making any conclusions, especially now that they have a giraffe to feed on. A) It will see how he responds/appears after such a large feast B) They should be on that kill for a few days, so we'll hopefully get some better video of them.

Unfortunately I think that the DM Gijima may have something wrong going on with him.

That consistent limp of his despite not being caught and injured is odd. I hope I'm wrong but this might be the start of a TB/Nkuhlu-like disease.

Al that buzz around DM limping (some say for months?), but i dont remember seeing any footage of that (or i missed it?).

Last video i remember are both males patroling around new year, he was walking pretty normal.

But yea, DM has that black spot on hip tho.

We discovered tracks of a male lion crossing into our reserve and, after an extensive tracking effort, finally located the impressive Gijima male moving through the area. He was visibly full and calling out as he walked, clearly searching for his companion to reunite. These two dominant males have had an incredible run, successfully protecting their prides and cubs. Only time will tell how much longer they can hold onto their vast territory.

The large Gijima male was first spotted near Selati Camp, but with the sun having set and darkness taking over the bush, we decided to head back to the lodge. However, as we were leaving, the male began to stir, becoming more active. He uttered a few contact calls, followed by a deep territorial roar that echoed through the night. This male, marked by a limp in his left hind leg, will likely seek out the second Gijima male. Reuniting with his partner would relieve the pressure on him, providing much-needed backup should they encounter other males within the territory. We followed him as he made his way deeper into our reserve looking for his partner. After some time, we left him to disappear into the thick undergrowth.

Male lions often split up to cover larger expanses of territory, marking scent to ensure the safety of the females and cubs within their domain. If danger arises, they will use contact calls to reunite, ready to fight together in defence of their pride and territory.
