@Rage2277 He will regain some of his size shortly as the monsoon hits. The last part of summer takes a toll on old tigers who can’t hunt as often and rather conserve energy in turn losing muscle mass.

But, it’s true that Tarzan is not in good shape for his age. But, Raiyakassa is also in terrible shape and he is 1-1.5 years older (I think). Handsome who some say was born to Baaghin Nala (Collarwali’s sister from same litter) is doing very well. He is around this age as well. And, he looked robust.

Not every tiger can be Waghdoh!! He was looking better at 16 than Tarzan at 11.

95 kg Teorema female fiercely fighting against the big old male Fantasma over a carcass at Fazenda Caiman - South Pantanal.

This brutal fight didn't end very well for Fantasma male as he got out of it with an ugly lacerated face and got chased away by Teorema.

No, this fight took place in 2013 and Fantasma was last seen in October 2013, the Onçafari team noticed his absence right after the first appereance of an adult prime male named Xavier who was first seen in mid October of that same year.

In case you're curious to know more check the whole case of the Teorema vs Fantasma fight told by the onçafari biologists in the link HERE along with the other intriguing mortality case that led to the death of Garoa female (killed by Sombra male and Esperança female) at the same area of Fazenda Caiman - South Pantanal.

Young tigress drove a pack of wolves out of the reserve, killing at least four of them.

"Tigress Ilona continues to exterminate wolves. A few days ago, when examining her cluster, the remains of another wolf, killed and eaten by her, were found," continues the deputy director for scientific work of the Khingansky Reserve. "From mid-November to the present day, her menu consists of two wapiti, two wolves, ten deer and 20 piglets."

"With the arrival of Ilona, the number of wolves has decreased, they have moved to a more safe territory for them, that is, away from the tigress."

“The remains of an adult wolf killed and eaten by tigress Ilona were found in the Khingansky Nature Reserve. According to Vyacheslav Kastrikin, Deputy Director of the Khingansky Nature Reserve, this is the fourth reliable case in a year when the wild cat has killed a wolf. However, there may be more."

"Hunting tigers for wolves is an infrequent phenomenon. Usually wolves try to leave the territory where tigers live. Therefore, four reliable facts of hunting wolves are an extraordinary case. “No wolf hunter can provide such efficiency,” Vyacheslav said.

"The tigress Ilona settled in the Khingansky reserve, displacing other predators - wolves. The flock moved north of the wild cat's habitat."

General director of the Amur Tiger Center, Sergei Aramilev talks about the difference of behaviour between tigers and wolves and the effect tigers have on wolves in nature.

The tiger kills as much as it can eat, but destroys all competitors. And the wolf kills as much as it can kill, this is the big difference between them. In Russia, they have been fighting against the wolf since ancient times, but defeating wolves is very difficult. But if a tiger lives in the area, then the wolves leave the area or become victims of the tiger. The tiger is the most effective weapon against wolves.

From wildlife field biologist - Jonathan C. Slaght, He has been travelling to (or living in) the Russian province of Primorye for nearly twenty years.

In the Russian Far East, tigers seem intolerant of wolves, meaning that where there are tigers there are no wolves, and the wolves that do show up in tiger habitat are quickly chased away or killed by their striped aggressors:

"The dogs lost their first impala kill instantly to hyeana, they then went after lechwe, but were unsuccessfully. They continued hunting and after losing them for a few minutes they were suddenly eating a large male warthog when we caught up with them. We had just got our cameras ready when out of nowhere a male leopard came charging at the dogs - it was a very close call for one dog, but the other two came to its rescue, and all three dogs then turned on the leopard chasing him up the branch of a tree. It was clear that this was in fact the leopard’s kill which the dogs had come across. The leopard made a couple of attempts to get his kill back but was chased up the tree again. He then patiently, and unhappily, waited until the dogs finished their share and left before coming down and tucking into his well earned meal! A thrilling encounter!"

wildlifewithnitin - Does size really matter?

That’s the first thought that came to my mind when I saw this cheetah chase this lioness, that was more than two times it’s size and weight!

The odds of the cheetah winning this encounter had the lioness chosen to fight back were really slim, but I guess the fact that this cheetah decided to go after the lioness instead totally overwhelmed her, and sent her into retreat..

The reason for this unusual act of bravely was because she had three little Cubs to protect from this huge lioness..

A cheetah is very brave, look Sita on African cats when she charges Notch head on and a lioness in a separate occasion. She also attacked hyenas too. Sometimes all it takes is a bluff to win the fight. If the lioness had not ran the cheetah would have turned tail. She is very lucky this female was unsure of her behavior and did not want injured.

Here is a young lioness chasing an adult cheetah
