What I am going to is that I wouldn't be suprised at all if Avocas go and catch one of De Laporte by himself, even through De Laporte as supperior numerically coalition has bigger firepower than Avocas as coalition.

I think so, too. However, I do think Solo and Cleo (along with several other partners of Solo's) were a product of their time and were unlucky being around mega coalitions such as the Mapogos, that tried to kill every lion in their path that didn't run away. Solo's partners were probably picked off one at a time by lions that arguably killed over a 100 others. Solo was born only a year before the Reign of Terror began. How he survived is a miracle. A single ranger claimed he personally put down over a dozen lions mauled and paralyzed. It's great, though, to know that unrelated male coalitions can be successful like the Thanda Impi, when conditions are right and the males in their prime. They also came together quite later in life.

Well it might be the case in some examples, if the bond is not as strong or they are new coalition.. But look at Mpondos, they are mostly not related, and they are elite coalition, they are together since young nomadic days, so they prob feel like real brothers now..

But yea, DeLaporte males gruop together at the age of 6/7 and are not that long together still, so your claim might be true, but we dont know..
I think it's a mistake to put as an example the case of the Mpondo with the Delaporte coalition, the Mpondo had this interaction and experiences since they were very young, they made very strong bonds through the years, the Delaporte males don't have even one year formed, for me the Delaporte coalition by the number of members is stronger, but nothing is written!

I see what you are saying but even related coalitions can often be cliquey, like ryan from ulusaba said, one of the selaties would always be by himself and that's why majingalanes were able to easily dethrone them. Nsuku/Nhena and Mfumo/Tinyo were also always in pairs, I don't think coalitions of unrelated males are anyless effective.

I was talking in general. Of course happens coalitions of unrelated males which cooperate with eachothers very well and happens coalitions of related males with do not cooperate with each others very well. I feel however that there are quite high chances that De Laporte won't cooperate with eachothers well while Southern Avocas spent whole life together and fought other males together. I feel Avocas would be more willing to suppport coalition partner risking his own life to do so.  Those are just speculations however and we will see how really strong De Laporte males are as a coalition when we will see them against other about evenly match coalition.

Solo and Cleo were born in Mapogo era, but when they came into age in which they started to look for territorry for themselfs the Mapogos were already gone. Solo and Cleo did not compete with Mapogo males.

Not enough information on the Delaports, unfortunately. Have they left the Sabi Sands area? Are they back in their old territory?

Coalition update:

So with the 2 Mpondos seen all the way north of Skukuza in Lions Sands KNP Concession, rumors of clash between Mpondos and DeLaportes seems to be true.

Before the lockdown, DeLaportes where mostly seen around s112 road and territory of Renosterkoppies pride, pushing for a takeover, and even 5th Mpondo left that area, prob under pressure and joined his partners in the south.

But it seems that Mpondos wont give up their old territory and prides that easy, after the lockdown, DeLaportes where seen suprisingly far north, around the S1/Kruger Gate, Lion Sands KNP Concession and even Kirkmans Kamp, which with this sighting of Mpondos confirm that Mpondos are pushing them north and trying to retake their old territory.

What will that mean for DeLaporte males we'll see, will they try to fight Mpondos or flee..

If they reatret further north they will  enter Sabi Sands, and clash with S. Avocas or 4 young N'ws might be inevitable.. Best option would be to go west along S1 where only 1 male is dominant in that area, Big Boy Charleston..

It could be last hurrah similar to BBoys going up north to confront the Northern Avocas before returning for good. I don't think there is much in that area to hold the Mpondos interest for very long. Even the DeLaportes might eventually drift towards some area with bigger prides.

Also, I hope they stay away from Big Boy.

Yeah that area doesnt have much value, because there isnt many big prides there..

DeLaportes prob gone south too far into Mpondos territory, and they are now chasing them back i assume.
