Because cases of mild hip dysplasia don't always show physical symptoms, sometimes there isn't even a limp at all.

It could also be arthritis, the symptoms of arthritis and hip dysplasia are similar but arthritis can cause irritation to the skin around the joint unlike hip dysplasia, which I assume can develop into those dark spots on the hip area.

That's an incredible observation and detailed information my friend. That kind of minor details takes a lot of time of learn it, Good job!

Neither of those are life threatning diseases, lions wont lose condition and become weak because of that, especially not prime and young males..

Nsuku got beaten by 1 year old cubs over food, because of hip dysplasia or arthritis?? Yea sure, thats nothing for a lion..

This is something else my friend..

It's the wild we are talking about, a bad hip will be life threatening when you need to hunt and fight to survive and have no time for bed rest to recover. Also, there are worse kinds of arthritis which can definitely kill you and even compromise your immune system. I'd very surprised if this is something new that isn't already known in the medical field.

For example: "In rheumatoid arthritis, the body's immune system attacks its own tissue, including joints. In severe cases, it attacks internal organs.
Rheumatoid arthritis affects joint linings, causing painful swelling. Over long periods of time, the inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis can cause bone erosion and joint deformity.
While there's no cure for rheumatoid arthritis, physiotherapy and medication can help slow the disease's progression. Most cases can be managed with a class of medications called anti-rheumatic drugs."

So every other male lion has life threatning arthritis? What they have joints from glass? This is male lions we are talking about, one of the strongest and resiliant animals in the world..

Do i see any "black dots" in Masai Mara or other lions outside of Kruger? No, i dont think i did.. Hmm why is that.. I guess only Kruger lions have weak joints as every other male has arthritis..

And they cant feed for themselves (with a pride and brothers) and lose condition but lions who actually got their bones broken (DM, WideNose Nwaswitshaka, BYM..) can?

I respect your opinion, but im not buying it that this is arthritis or hip dysplasia, yet some kind of bacteria/disease which came into Kruger similar to TB..

I can’t find once instance outside of Kruger either. We have to remember until 1990 no one knew lions could contract TB. Because we keep exposing them to domestic animals we are the ones introducing all these new, unknown diseases into the gene pool. I really hope they atleast test one or two of these males to confirm what’s going on.

It's genetic, hip dysplasia and arthritis are both passed down, and certain genetics are predisposed to it. It could be native to the kruger population, both Mbiri males have that black dot on the hip. Btw all wild life is equally resilient, lions are no more resilient than house cats or leopards, humans have put lions on a pedestal for some reason.

Genetics? I dont know any case of "black dots" before Sizanani and Hip Scar, which started around 2015.. Correct me if im wrong..

Its impossible that this occured only in Kruger and only in recent years, if its not new kind of disease..

where'd you get that from? lol I'm very certain this was happening before Hip-Scar my guy. And by genetics I meant since both Mbiri males have it, there's a case to be made that they both have it because it's a genetic problem, whatever it may be.

Find me 1 lion with that before.. I didn't see it..

Or both Mbiri feed on the same carcass and contract that.

Edit: found a lion with mark in 2013,s65 :
