Ratelpan male injured hopping still.

"Injured male lion came limping across the road, stood a second or two, pondering his next move and then hopped along, some major damage to the left side hip/hind leg could be seen, fight with another lion or a hunt gone bad.. thoughts?"

Those wounds don't look like something another lion would cause, I don't see the adjoining wounds that would normally accompany injuries like these, scratch marks etc..., do we know where/how he got them? They are strange looking and very deep. These are the same males who took the pride from, and killed one of the Mjejanes, right?

Yeah ones who fought mjejane. Not sure only 2 in this sighting. Darkmane isn't there. Saw another video of the tallest one walking he seems okay just marks on the top part. Someone said 6 nomad males seen around malelane idk if that's related though.

The wounds do look really strange, not to mention they both look really thin. Thank you, very much, for that, my friend!

The one with the smaller mane looks like he got caught a while ago and they healed up, we see he lost mass healing up and not moving/hunting. Now the big mane boy, he looks maybe got trampled by Buffalo and caught some horns? Maybe? He got lucky of so.

Those look more like puncture wounds than a bite or scratch. So probably a buffalo or some other horned animal.
It does not seem they went deep in the body which would have put the spine and lungs at risk, but the deeper parts will be difficult to clean for him if filth got stuck there.

Those injuries are prob from other lions, very slim chances he got stabbed by horn 5/6 times in the same area.

Agreed. Looks like bite wounds from other lions as the distance between the puncture wounds seems identical to the distance between the canines of an adult lion. Another lion got a good hold of his back it seems like so his partner could do more damage to the legs, lurcky to be around still.

Could be, I don't know, but they certainly look strange, and the other injuries you'd expect to see if it were other cats that did it don't seem to be there. Those holes don't seem to line up with a bite, to me, they seem too spread apart for that, certainly not a single bite. If it is several bites I would think there would be injuries from other teeth. Especially that one largest hole, it doesn't seem to line up with any of the others.

Take, for instance, the White Birmingham male, those holes line up, you can clearly see the shape of a lions mouth, and the injuries from the other teeth. We don't see any of that here. just several random holes. Not saying it isn't lions, and I honestly have no idea what caused them, but they don't seem to be to be to me.

I dont know. It covers a big surface area for just a singular bite.
And the holes seem a bit to big. Unless they are being eaten away by infection.

I was wrong about the alignment, the bite theory is a possibility for the four wounds closest to the shoulder, as they do align with one another in width, angle, and distance, but I am still unclear what would cause the largest wound which stands all by itself, or what could have caused two large males in their prime to lose condition so quickly.

That's a bit of mystery on how they actually fought Mjejanes. Could have been 3 vs 2, one Mjejane running away and the other getting caught out.

Its hard to judge bites like that, as they would be bited "perfectly", all 4 canines dont go in perfectly and by the same lenght in these kind of fights, sometimes just 1 or 2 canines pierce the skin, depending on grip, bite angle, bite position etc.

That largest wound also look a bit infected with worms or something, so its now prob bigger then it was initially.

As for condition, idk, we still dont have any context what happened, they definetly didnt eat in a while based of completley empty bellies.

According to Mike, the two could barely move. Which does not bode well for them.
The third male is missing which may indicate he already died. Though if he is in perfect health, he would have no choice than to abandon his partners. So he may still be alright.

He believes the damage was done by lions.
