Just reached home about an hour ago. Left Skukuza at 06h00 so in all 13h30 drive with just two 15 minute stops so I'm knackered, but in a good way. Was a good trip for males and Kruger wasn't quite done with us and just before exiting Malalane gate spotted this guy on the H3 just north of the S110 tar with a lioness and cubs about a 100m further north.
Again, one of you guys would do a better job of identifying than me. Once again, cellphone pics for now.
For those following the male lion dynamics on Mjejane Game Reserve, here is a quick video update and description of sightings from the past couple of weeks.
A few weeks ago Mo was seen with 1 of the lactating lionesses and there were a few brief sightings of some young cubs and all seemed calm and well with no sign of the 3 Mjejane males in the area for ages.
The 2 Hippo Pools males had other ideas and arrived on the reserve chasing Mo and looking for the lionesses. Mo seems to have avoided confrontation with them so far and has been back and forth between Mjejane and the Kruger National Park a few times.
There doesn't appear to have been any confirmed sightings of the cubs in the past week or so and the Hippo Pools males were seen with 1 of the 3 lionesses.
It remains to be seen if she is distracting the new males and the cubs are safely hidden or if they didn't make it? Will Vurhami Mo return and defend his lionesses and offspring or has he conceded Mjejane and the 3 lionesses to the 2 younger and smaller Hippo Pools males??

"intimidation" obiviously didnt work, theres nothing Mo can do here anymore vs 2 males, sad, but this is life of lone males.
Atleast the pride will have a much better chance of raising their next generation with those young males.
But those are still young. So there is a small chance they might spare the cubs.
