We found these 4 males early morning on Saturday close to the Phabeni Gate of Kruger. Surprising cuz we have never seen them in the area before. What magnificent specimens too. Awesome.

This guys look serious, as somebody said those are prob the guys who where been seen on S3 road towards Pretoriuskop and around Phabeni Gate in recent months..

Blondie Fourways was seen there with a younger partner, but we didn't know that he had 3 partners, last male on the picture looks a bit older then the 2 younger ones above, those 2 are most likely brothers by the looks..

Will be interesting to see if they push further east into Charlestons Big Boys territory.

As per the photographer: "The Matjulu Males are a coalition of 3 young male lions and they dominate the Berg en Dal area. The Matjulu males come from the Lukimbi pride in the Lukimbi concession. The Matjulu males are quite similar to the 5 Eastern Bank males in the fact that both coalitions dominate a prime territory at such a young age."

No, These are the original Matjulu males. The Jock males can't be called as Matjulu males (for now) As apparently, The last Matjulu male is still alive in the S36 road in KNP.
