There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

And the white sister was born feb 2015 and died later that year. Just some errors in that article will contact bigonwild

Prob because he was not be able to grown mane like them..

I don't know if it is because he is a really aggressive male, or because he gets attacked for looking different (yes, this can be a real thing in the animal world sometimes, the same way animals will attack another for acting strangely), but Casper is a very scarred up lion. Perhaps the stress of constant conflict is the cause of his poorly conditioned mane.

Casper always has been looking more battered and beaten among the Shish young males. Around 2 years ago, 3/4 unknown males arrive on Lebombo area and have killed to some of the Shish sub-adults members. During those times, Casper was looking very beaten.

@BA0701  Casper looks more scarred/battered because of his white coat, you can see every scratch on him, which is not that visible on brown coat..you can see that on Birmingham white male also, it will be even more as he become nomadic and starts fighting..

@Tr1x24  that certainly makes sense, and could explain it for sure. I was referring more to how just about every image I see of him, he seems to always have new scratches and bite wounds. The pictures you posted are a perfect example, it seems he has some new bite marks on his hip/back leg. I know these are common, it just seems that every time I see pictures of him some recent damage is visible.

1994 The C males of the Mpanamana pride rejoined their natal pride at five years of age and tried to exert dominance over the pride wanting to mate with their mothers and aunts. The lionesses would have none of it and two bigger and darker maned lions chased them off and claimed the pride for themselves.
This coalition lived on the basalt plains of Kruger National Park, about halfway between Lower Sabie and Crocodile Bridge camps

What an impressive looking male... N’waswitshakas all have such a unique look. Does he have any brothers/ coalition partners?

Definitely,The Matasaka males (The N'wawitshaka fathers) sired some good looking males! They left a big legacy through the KNP.
This boy was seen on Phanbeni road.

This older N'waswitshaka male has another brother and a coalition partner as far I remember it

The Mpanamana Pride is today the Shishangeni/Vurhami/HippoPool/SouthLowerSabie/Gomondwane Pride was an emblematic pride in the southeastern area of Kruger NP, all of these prides originated from the Mpanamana Pride which came to have over 60 members among them!

The C males were 5 and were distinguished by their hind leg mark ©, these males together with the Mpanamana pride were marked for scientific studies.

Thank you for this post, as always very useful @TinoArmando
