Here are some photos of one of my earliest visits to Chitwan as a tour guide trainee i found on my computer, including some nearby places.
We were staying at place called Kasara- During elephant safari, a calf was accompanying our elephant for the first time, all of a sudden two rhinos emerged from the side in front, the calf was alerted and curios at the same time, trying to sniff out the strangers and also threatening them by tearing grasses. But it screeched and bolted once the two rhinos started to get nervous and curiosly the big boys bulldozed in our direction, going past our elephant rather than away from it, it was a hilarious moment.
Here are the sequence, and some other sceneries!

Had went to Chitwan this 19th  August 2019, 2 nights with foreign guests in a package tour. This is a period of monsoon, core area was closed due to the risk of flooding so all the activities was arranged in the buffer forest. The plus point of this season is that there was greenery and we did not see other tourists while on a safari.
Down side is there was water and grass everywhere for wildlife and so we saw very few animal species fewest I've ever seen in Chitwan. Chitals, hog deer, wildboars and rhinos-6 different ones.
First day we arrived at around 2 pm, elephant safari was arranged after lunch.
This was the first one

The river on the photo above demarcates core area of the national Park from the buffer zone, the forest in the background is a core area while the grassland with rhino is the buffer area.
Another rhino! bigger one in the river

After the activity there is not much to do and you have to enjoy being alone without anyone you know, the room was nice with a balcony that looked  over the grassland.

Next morning the weather was cool and the himalayan mountains could be viewed from the road as we headed into the jungle for the Jeep drive

the forest was practically empty, some spotted deer here and there and after many minutes we came upon two rhinos wallowing, the bigger one started a mock charge then stood there and they began to walk away into the open.

Breakfast was served jungle style on the multipurpose vehicle with the expanse of grassland on the opposite side

After the morning drive there was nothing to see, elephant bathing was set for the tourists and canoe ride up to the sunset point in the afternoon

In the canoe there was not much to see either, river had swelled up and we saw two gharials but they were indistinct, first one had poked it's eyes above the surface and the second was on the other side of the big river only visible clearly with binoculars. This river is very big and forms the northern and eastern boundary of the park. Drinks and snacks was served in one of the islands, formed by three major river system of Chitwan.
