There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Jens Cullmann: " ‘Bottom down’
This Hyena is in deep trouble if she thinks that she can overpower a cooperative pack of painted dogs. She puts her bottom down in order to protect it from the biting of the pack when she tries to steal a Impala freshly killed by the dogs. "

Seyms_Brugger: " On a cold and misty morning, another of Natures scenes unfolded in front of us in the greater Zululand area in #southafrica

A lone Hyena did not enjoy the presence of Vultures and chased them constantly.⁣
While the action was fast and furious, it always pay to try ane anticipate and prepare for your photo.⁣
⁣This legendary Hyena was killed a few months later by the dominant Lion in the area. "

" It’s #WildDogDay and we thought we’d always take an opportunity to share a picture of this incredible animal.

This shot was taken in Mana Pools, a stronghold for wild dogs (or painted wolves) by Wild Eye Guide @marlondutoit."

Jens Cullmann: " Take as much as you can and run ...

this series of images was taken in not even a minute. Before this images were taken, the dogs killed an impala. When they nearly finished hyenas came and tried to take over the rest of the carcass. It went super quick. The one hyena grabbed the head with the spine. Another hyena and the wild dogs followed. The hyena with the head got away. The other one got snatched by the painted dogs and had to defend itself.
Not all images are sharp in this series. Please don’t blame me for that. But it was a action sighting how I like it and they are part of it ?"

Jens Cullmann: " Some action before we can go into the weekend ... on that morning painted dogs killed an impala before. When nearly finished some hyenas came for the leftovers. Obviously the dogs didn’t like to share with the hyenas and the fight for food begun ... end of the story: the hyenas got some scraps!
Have a nice weekend and better keep some distance to painted dogs and hyenas "

Jens Cullmann: " After starting their hunt in the late afternoon, the wild dogs saw this old and on one eye blind hyena laying in a mud hole and circled her. After heavy growling from the hyena and a few moments later the wild dogs trotted away and nothing happened ... "
