Panther is sort of a generic term for any medium sized cat.  Leopards, pumas, and jaguars are all referred to as panthers sometimes.  Black versions of leopards and jaguars are often called "black" panthers as if they were a separate species.  What they really are is simply a color variation of two different species.  Often you can see the spottting pattern of the cat through the overall darkened fur.

I've posted tons of his videos and images in the captive thread. Eduardo is a great man who saves a lot of these cats from Circus situations, Frankie one of is Male Tigers is a cat you should look up. He was so skinny when BJWT got him, aggressive and never felt grass, he put on 300lbs and has a female with him now. He puts all his females on Birth control and he loves them all so much. Lions are his favorite and Tigers are his least favorite, as he puts it, "they bite" and he thinks jags are lb for lb the best fighters.

The only knock I have on him is that he puts his life at risk seemingly unnecessarily, wath the video with Him and Taxinia (tabby male tiger) that tiger playful grabs his foot and you can see how that might turn in to something more. But other than that, he is awesome.
Join his FB and IG pages, they're great.

@Pckts, I'm becoming a bit suspicious of the REAL motivation of this guy.  After seeing the puma cubs in a recent video of his menagerie, I started to question how he REALLY came about obtaining his cats...particularly all the cubs.  He even has the rarer (yet widely popular) white lion and white tiger cubs.  Most "rescues" have older cats with nowhere else to go.  Perhaps this guy has created a nice little lucrative raquet for himself and just maybe his seemingly philanthropic motives have been compromised a little.

I doubt it, he just received a huge shipment of adult lions and tigers from the Circus, Franky, Voltan, King Lotus, Leo, Taxinia, (all normal colored adult tigers and lions outside of tabby taxinia) and the list goes on of adult big cats he has rescued from the circus and zoo, he receives cubs as well but he finds home for as many as he can. When a circus is confiscated or zoo, they have to fight very hard to be the ones to receive the big cats, they are shipped nation wide to many sanctuaries and rehabilition centers.
The reason he is able to receive white lion or white tiger cubs is because there are more of them in captivity than ever before, they need rescueing as much as any others. I truly suggest you look up his center, see how much he does for them, his amazing rescue stories and his fight with the mexican gov't to rescue these cats that were going to be put down. Mexico just passed a no circus law and these cats have no where else to go, he is a savior to them.
Most importantly, he doesn't breed any of them.

His facility isn't even public, he doesn't seem to care about tourism, just animal well being.

Here is his mission statement:
  • AddressHidden For Safety Reasons
  • Short DescriptionThe Official Facebook page of The Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation. Changing the world one rescued being at a time...
  • Long Description"Everyone at The Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation understands the need that defenseless and selfless animals suffer after us, humans, have done the impossible to mess up this beautiful planet of ours.

We are fighting to eradicate the idea that a living being can be reduced to a simple object by possessing it. Only a chair, a computer, a TV or something like that can be possessed. We are creating awareness about how sentimental, intelligent, and unique each animal is. They are happy, sad, sleepy, energetic, etc, etc, just like us. The only thing that they don´t do is talk a human language. By showing them Love and respect to the extreme, and obviously by taking care of their basic needs, the interactions between them and us at the Foundation have become something magical and extremely magnetic. And little by little we are changing what most people think about nature and all of its children.

For the moment we are focusing our energy in rescuing from bad circumstances what people consider Big Cats. But if we can accommodate another type of living being we would gladly do so...The Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation was inspired by a single unexpected act of Love and a whole lot of trust and magic. In September of 2013, the story of an orphaned black Jaguar cub in Mexico made its way to the ears of an individual, Eduardo, who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Miguel, the cousin of Eduardo and an expert and long time advocate of animal care, told him that the cub, whose mother had died during birth, was being transported into the hands of a wretched character that planned to drug her in order to take pictures with the public as a source of revenue. Eduardo, always being a firm believer in equality and the proper treatment of all beings, took a leap of faith with existence and intercepted the cub from a loveless life in captivity.
Before the cub arrived, Eduardo and his girlfriend at the time (And best friend and Founding member of the Foundation), Rachel, were already in love with her, preparing their home for their new baby girl. Allow us to tell you that it is not for the faint of heart. These are powerful and unpredictable children of nature, not a pet or a toy. Do not underestimate the commitment, work, energy, strength, and resources that are necessary to care for just one of these incredible beings.

Today, with the help of devoted friends, Eduardo has rescued tens of felines (And counting) from a life of terror among the circuses, zoos, and breeders. Now that the Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation has been formed, his dream is to end all suffering of the beautiful children of existence that we humans have tried to dictate upon them.
The Black Jaguar White Tiger Foundation will soon plead for your economical help in rescuing our planet and raising awareness regarding the care of our environment and that of the innocent creatures that us humans are forcing into extinction. If we don't do the change, then who will? While we continue to update this page, enjoy our Instagram account @blackjaguarwhitetiger with almost 3000 videos…It’s all for Love…

Heres a few of the big cats they have rescued and the stories as to how/why they got them.

I also take back how dangerous it was to go in the cage with taxiania, apparenetly the Tabby tiger is missing all his fangs and many teeth, so Eduarado probably knows its ok to be in there with him. Still a risk, but not as bad I guess.

That was a huge slander move by a couple of the "sanctuaries" a while back, he absolutely destroyed them already. The most recent claim was him not being licensed as a "wildlife sanctuary" which he already posted his licensing and threatened to sue them if they didn't take it down immediately,
Which of course they did. Before that it was a claim that he was breeding which he has never done or that he was exploiting the cats, in fact he was a huge part of the illegalization of circus cats being used in Mexico and all of his big cats are on birth control another claim was from another competing sanctuary owner which he immediately called out and showed that she in fact was the prime suspect in her husbands murder and how her cages were absolutely atrocious.

It's sad that these sanctuaries resort to this, its political nonsense because he is taking their meal tickets away from them.
Do yourself a favor and spend a day looking through his IG and FB pages, he makes all of these claims public and provides proof to back them all. I for one feel that these cats are extremely lucky that someone like him exists, he has the resources and the means to bring attention to these cats and he does so in a spectacular way.

He makes it public that on the issues that matter he feels this way
-No captive cats should ever be bred unless for a reintroduction to wild
-No animals should perform in the circus, it's extremely cruel
-No private facilities should be allowed to keep wild animals
-The wild is the only place these cats belong

His most used #'s
#NoPets #boycottcircus

The best part about his facility is this, he doesn't need any money so he doesn't allow the public to come, he allows celebrities because celebrities bring attention and that is why he has over 6 million followers on his page.

Sorry for the long response I just really respect what he's doing and I have seen this time and time again and every single time, he confronts the bs and shows them to be absolute liars and you never hear from them again.

I would like to add that it serves no purpose to breed unusual animals. I know that black jaguars are not unknown in the wild, but big cats and other wild animals should not be bred merely for "interesting" colors or other attributes as in breeding domestic cats and dogs. Big cats such as "ligers" are being bred in some zoos; a good example is

The reason ligers were so common is because they neither fall under a tiger not a lion and thus they did not suffer under the same regulations and thus people irresponsibly bred them to the point where they are all over the place. Bjwt has one liger that arrived with its 2 tiger and one lion sibling. But what bjwt does that so great is they rescue 100s of older circus performing big cats that would of surely been put down.

Not really, he's said it before.
Neither Alcyone or Atzlan look like pure amurs, same with any of his other tigers he has and all of them are rescues from circuses and sanctuaries in Mexico so I have doubts about that. Regardless though he has some large Tigers and his Lions are still larger so that should definitely give people something to think about.

I'm not sure why his lions are larger than his tigers,  he doesnt have a cat larger than 250kg in the entire Bjwt so it's not like he has monsters of any species, the largest weights he's had were between 220-230kg and Luke, Han, Alcyone and Ali are all there when they were weighed. I've certainly seen Tigers be larger than Lions in the same sanctuaries and vice versa and same in the wild.
But regardless his cats are well maintained and healthy so that's all that matters.
