There is a world somewhere between reality and fiction. Although ignored by many, it is very real and so are those living in it. This forum is about the natural world. Here, wild animals will be heard and respected. The forum offers a glimpse into an unknown world as well as a room with a view on the present and the future. Anyone able to speak on behalf of those living in the emerald forest and the deep blue sea is invited to join.

Big Males Compared to Females

I didn’t get to see Jai the tiger from Nagzira, but did hear some fables about his size. I was told that he was very tall for a tiger and not at all camera shy. Pity that he was poached. I would apologize if anyone has posted this video before of jai mating with a tigress 3 years older than him:

220 kgs empty is a big Tiger, he may not of been in the top tier weight class but he sure was close.

Was that his weight? At what age? I think from the pictures and videos of Jai, I just see an exceptionally tall tiger especially in pictures in comparison to the vehicles in the background. In this video, the head size in comparison to the tigress just appears massive.

Yes, it was confirmed to me at the end of 2015 by Dr. Habib
Scale capacity was 500kg and he was neither baited nor gorged, he was darted on a road.

I think he weighed 77kg the first time they weighed and collared him back in 2017. Today he seems to weigh 82kg: https://the-africat-foundation.myshopify.com/collections/sponsor-a-leopard/products/sponsor-mawenzi

Compared to the male, the female isn't particularly small, but the lion's mane makes the difference !
