New pics of DM. He’s looking well. His mane looks good too. Love the colors.

In the event the pics get blocked they can be seen on the Avoca Facebook page:

surprisingly of all the lone males in the north, DarkMane seems perhaps the safest at the moment due to the occasional help from his offspring. with Birmingham to the north is a good time to have someone as backup, it remains to be seen how far this backup is willing to fight I very much doubt that both darkmane and their children would commit too much in a dispute.

Yea, but i dont consider DM territorial male anymore, im those 2 conflict's with S8 male, DM was in the area, but no evidence that he actually stand up to S8.

Yea, there was that 1 footage of him roaring few months back, but idk, i think he just follow Talamatis and tries to stick with them , i dont think he scent marks, patrols and roars on regular basis like other territorial males, also his condition was quite poor past few months.

You're right, I don't consider DM to be territorial either.
However, one thing that was clear from the July encounter is that S8 was running away from DM and Talamatis. And it appears, thereafter, that S8 has stopped harassing them.

Blondie always reminded me of Nhena, they both had very unscarred faces during their younger years. Definitely was my favorite Avoca when the three used to hang together. Sad news.

Are the Avocas even 10 years old yet? Also, he still has the Nkuhumas, right? I ask because Mohawk is looking rather thin to my eyes, especially in the area of the spine, I would truly hate to see him lose his beloved brother and his pride all within a short period of time.

Rest easy Blondie

You and your brothers have left 10 sons in the wild. A beautiful legacy.

Nope.
Some sources say that N avocas were born in June 2013 while other says November 2013.
In either case they are 9-9.5 yes old
I don't think nkuhumas have left MOHAWK, might possible bboys girls are not currently with him but for time being only. The pride respect him and admires his might even the 5 subadults males.

For DM, I am not very sure. With every passing month, there are less and less of his sightings with the talamatis sub girls and atmost only 1 talamatis sub boy seen with him

Poor Mohawk, he is probably missing Blondie.
It would be nice if Mohawk forms again a coalition with DM including his Talamati subadults.

Don’t know how true, but someone on the Avoca Facebook page mentioned how he’s been calling and calling, they think for Blondie. Poor guy. ;(

It’s going to be interesting to see how things go for him the next few weeks and months. I think he’s more than capable of hanging on to the Nkuhumas at least for a little while. After all, there are other solo males in the area who are managing to hold onto their prides right now. But it won’t be easy.

The report up thread at how close DM and the sub-adult was to him is interesting. They were practically on top of each other.
