Avoca Male Lions and Their Male Lineage - vinodkumarn - 11-27-2018 As we are seeing 2 sets of Dominant Avocas in sabisands and we can say they are here to stay and lets have a thread to know more about them (Pics and information) RE: Avoca male lions - Mohawk4 - 11-27-2018 (11-26-2018, 05:08 AM)Herekitty Wrote: I thought it might be worth examining some of the distinguishing facial features of the northern Avoca boys. The first boy is the dark skinned lion with the upward slanting eyes and broad rounded nose. He was described by Brent Leo-Smith as being taller at the shoulder and hip than the Birmingham Boys and Majingilanes, and the tallest lion he'd seen in the area since Hairy Belly. He is presumed to be the dominant male among the three owing to his darker toned skin, mane, and his fierce gaze. Image by Zaheer Ali. RE: Avoca male lions - Herekitty - 12-03-2018 Dark skinned northern Avoca was seen at Cheetah Plains sporting a cut to the side of his nose. One of the blondies was there too, and a video of each. RE: Avoca male lions - Herekitty - 12-04-2018 This is the other blonde guy (judging by the ears) who was seen with the Talamati pride yesterday at Cheetah Plains. He was nursing a sore fore paw. Image by Cheetah Plains December 3, 2018. *This image is copyright of its original author
RE: Avoca male lions - IñigoMontoya - 12-04-2018 (12-01-2018, 01:01 AM)Herekitty Wrote: Southern Avocas at Lion Sands. This video will soon be on youtube accompanied by electronic marching music. Video by Luke Peter Abbott, November 27, 2018 Curiously, some people say Lions in Sabi Sands are slim. Northern Avoca apparently are slim, BB apparently are slim, Matimba are very slim (The are very old lions I know). However South Avoca apparently are full power. The famine only affects to north of Sabi Sands? RE: Avoca male lions - Herekitty - 12-04-2018 @IñigoMontoya This shot of a northern Avoca was taken in the last two weeks. Lion body shapes change dramatically depending on their last meal. Some shots of Birmingham Nhenha and Tynio in the last few months showed very fat cats too. IMO all the dominant lions of Sabi Sands over the years have had slim days and fat days, with naturally fewer fat days as they get older. RE: Avoca male lions - Herekitty - 12-05-2018 Blonde northern Avoca with the fuller mane. Pretty handsome lion. His left ear is more nicked up, while the other blonde's right ear is nicked. I noticed a lot of ladies on Safari Live youtube channel desperately miss the BBoys at Djuma, but I think these guys are pretty similar at the same age. Tough cats. RE: Avoca male lions - Herekitty - 12-11-2018 Southern Avoca males looking well fed. This guy has an interesting scar around his third eye that looks like mud or blood, but has been there for a while now.
