I just read same news about dead goats 3 times. Don't know
Noone should have to read the same news 3 times.

Actually, 3 sources had bits of extra info in them like local gujarati news had more info, and English news has accurate info if not more, So I merged all the 3 news sources to one.

Two people were injured in a lion attack after it entered the coastal Madhavpur village of Porbandar district Tuesday morning. Videos circulated on social media showed villagers running helter-skelter after the wild animal charged in their direction. The big cat was a sub-adult male aged around three-and-a-half years
Indicating that the crowd was out of control, Chief Conservator of Forests(CCF) of Junagadh wildlife circle Dushyant Vasavada said, “The villagers were excited by the presence of animals but since forest staff were unavailable on the spot, the crowd was out of control, leading to the injuries.”

The injured were identified as Arjan Mavadiya (75) and Shyam Solanki (23), both resident of Madhavpur village.

Madhavpur is around 50 km west of Babra Vidi, the nearest permanent habitat of lions in Junagadh district.

“Madhavpur is not an established habitat of Asiatic lions but a couple of lions have been seen roaming in that area for the last few days. We believe, the lion seen near Osho Ashram on Tuesday morning is one of them. Our local staff is keeping a watch over the area and a rescue team from Sasan has also reached the spot. Presently, we are observing the animal. There are no immediate plans to rescue and take the wild animal back to forest area,” the CCF further said.

Deputy conservator of forests (DCF) of Porbandar said that after straying into the village early in the morning, the lion had sought refuge in a thicket of gando baval (prosopis juliflora) lining limestone mines in the area.

Being territorial animals, a few lions have migrated out of protected forest areas as population of the top predators increased and have settled in revenue areas of these districts as well as thickets along the sea coast.
The lion census conducted in 2015 had estimated the population of Asiatic lions to be 523. But forest officers claim that the number has already crossed 600 now and that more and more lions are moving out into the revenue area and newer territories.

The Somnath-Kodinar rail project is going to be implemented for the commercial transport of four non-engineering units of Gir Somnath district by Central Rail Department. For which the notification for land acquisition has also been mentioned ...

But this rail project has also been exposed to the wildlife of the country as well as the wild animals of Lion and Leopard .

Wildlife and working for the environment ...

Solanki, the President of the Environmental Protection and Public Welfare Committee, has written a letter written in the divisions of divisions including forest and environment departments, demanding the cancellation of this new rail project.

According to the committee's Lord God Solanki, this rail project will be deployed in Gir Somnath district, 44 more lions and more than 111 leopards will be  in danger...

Because the railway project is going to pass through the line corridor declared by the central government of the natural arrival of these wild animals ...

The three lines of Hiran, Saraswati and Somat from Somnath to Kodinar Sugi will pass through the rail lines from six villages of the Corridor, which will cause the natural route of the wild creatures, including the lions coming from the Gir Forest to the Coastal Forest, to be tied and Pipavav's Jail Train Hudafate died.

Retired forest officer working in Sutrapada forest range supporting the threat of NGOs and threats to wild animals, including the Aashietak Lane.

Masaribhai Kamaliya, with the media mentioned that in Gir sanctuary this is going to be serious threat.

In particular, if there is no rail project in this area in such a situation, there is a possibility that such lions will be mortal danger created in the Pipavav Rail line as well as in the area where the lions are embracing this, especially when there is no fixed time for the arrival of wild animals. So this rail line is dangerous for wildlife.

The government has also been urged by the High Court to cotrol the deaths of Asiatic lion, which is considered to be of Gujarat and plans for the conservation and enrichment of long-term lions by the Central and State Governments. While making claims of seriousness, Somnath Kodinar prevents a special railroad project before it becomes susceptible to incidents.

There is no increase in the population of Gir Forest as it is now fully crowded but there is a continuous increase outside Gir

*This image is copyright of its original author

Lions are becoming more friendly for hunting livestock

Gir Forest is spread 1412 sq km area. Of which 258 square km area is National Park which is very crowded. Not only the population of the lions, but the Gir forests are crowded because of the leopards and other predators with one of highest leopard concentration or density in the world.

Lions in this area are inevitably reducing. An official says on condition of anonymity, National Park has not cut in the last 30 years. Here are only 30 to 50 lions. More than 180 lions live in the Revenue area. However, the last census was in the total area of 523 lions in 20,000 sq. Km. area and after that recently, it is confirmed that 600 lions officials said, at the time of the CDV lions death, after vaccination.

Lion extended from Sultanate Mangrol to Shihor
1. Girnar's hill forest is also spread over 179 sq km area. Out of which, the area of the lions is 50 square km. The lion's movement is the highest recorded in this area, where there is no plains or wing areas.
An official said on condition of anonymity, that there are more than 45 lions in 12 villages. The area has been identified as Greater Gir or Brihad Gir since the last few years. Out of this area, 109 square km area of Amreli and Bhavnagar districts, around Shihor, Palitana, Savarkundla, Jasar, Madhyala and Khambha, have been developed as Conservation Reserves which is the corridor for the lion's movement.

If you do not have proper forest, then you have to find an outside street.
2. According to a retired official who worked with lions for years, one lion need 24 km2 for the habitation. In such a way, the Gir forest still very small for the current lion numbers. In 2015 census, 523 lions were registered. There are few areas in the Gir sanctuary and in the thick areas of the National Park, there is very little human presence. Girnar's mountainous area can be excluded from direct transit of lions.

Therefore, they have to find a place to live where the grasslands are found. Therefore, the only solution to get out of the forest is not increasing the population if the forest is not suitable, then it must find out the outer path.

According to the area, food habits also changes
3. When the lion conservation forest officer who has been serving for years said Lion hunts wild boar, nilgai, etc., when they does not get cheetal or sambar in the accreted plains. That is, its Food Habit changes. According to an estimate, Gir lions hunt 40 to 45 percent of chital, 15 percent sheep, 15 percent nilgai, 6 percent pigs or wild boars and 15 percent cattle/buffaloes.

                                                                                                           Lion living in the coast
4. According to forest officials, the migratory lions of Gir are also living on the coast. On the coast of Mangrol, 4 lion groups/prides were inhabited

                                                                                                  Preferring mostly mosquito-free places
5. According to an official of forest department, lions living in Girnar live in the rainbow rounds ranging from the purple ranges in the north mountain ranges to prevent mosquito nuisance in the monsoon. Because, the winds in this area are good. At the same time, there are more mosquito nuisance as there are less winds in the areas of South Dungar range.

                                                                                                  Cold-water in Summer of Bordevi
6. In the South Dungar ranges, there are hills with dense forests in Bordevi's forest, but also remain cautious. Because, there is a lot of cooling in the summer and water is filled in the river Ghadajadi.

The Lion’s Den: When Big Cats Roamed Greece

*This image is copyright of its original author

Ancient Greek art depicting Greek god Dionysius riding a panther (a cheetah)

Greek scientists believe that a cave near Vravrona, about 40 km (25 miles) east of Athens, was a hideout for lions and panthers which roamed the Greek countryside thousands of years ago.

Fossils belonging to small and large mammals, including lions and panthers, have been recently unearthed by researchers. Other species identified from skeletal remains include wolves, bison, horses, bears and deer.

Excavations in the cave began in the mid 1970s and continues to this day. Scientists say that the fossils date over a large period between twenty-five thousand to seven thousand years ago.

They believe that the cave was either a natural trap for animals, or perhaps was a place where large predators would bring their prey to enjoy a quiet dinner.

Because most of these species became extinct in Greece such a long time ago, little is known about the animals’ possible ranges throughout the country.

Lions feature very prominently in ancient Greek mythology and writings including the myth of the Nemean Lion. This animal, which was believed to enjoy supernatural powers, was said to have occupied the sacred town of Nemea in the Peloponese.

The Nemean Lion was famously slain by Heracles/Hercules (see the movie, it has some action with giant nemean lion CGI slayed by Hercules), constituting the first labor the Greek god was tasked with performing. It was said that the lion’s fur was impervious to attacks because it was made of gold, and its claws, sharper than mortal swords, could cut through armor.

Heracles managed to kill the Nemean Lion by strangling it; he wore the lion’s pelt ever after.

Lion sculptures from the 4th century BC in Greece

Lions symbolized power and wealth for the ancient Greeks. Aristotle and Herodotus wrote that lions were even found in the Balkans in the middle of the first millennium BC. When King Xerxes advanced through Macedonia in 480 BC he reported encountering several lions.

Lions were reported to have become extinct in Italy before the year 20 BC and from Western Europe as a whole around the year 1 AD. According to historians, by the "year" 70 the giant cats were restricted to northern Greece, in the area between the rivers Aliakmon and Nestus.

By the year 100 AD they became extinct in Eastern Europe as well. After that lions in Europe became restricted to the Caucasus mountains, where a population of Asiatic lions survived all the way into the tenth century but a small sub-population left in India now.
