"Unnamed leopardess gets a name on Leopard Day! The right to give a name to a rare cat was the main prize of the In the Leopard's Land quest held as part of the Leopard Day festival in Moscow. The unnamed leopardess was named Bela. Zhasmina Achilova, 9, won the right to name the leopardess known as Leo 54F. "I just made friends with a girl who is very beautiful, and her name is Bela. I decided to give the same name to the leopardess," the girl said. Leo 54F is a female aged about six years old, living on the border of Russia and China. She was first spotted in 2014. Scientists believe that the leopardess was born in Russia but moved abroad as the spotted cat population grew. The Leopard Day festival was held at Krasnaya Presnya Park on 27 August. 4 feline species recorded on the same trail of the “Land of the Leopard” at once! An Amur leopard, a Siberian tiger, a lynx and an Amur leopard cat have got caught in the lens of trail cameras fixed in the same area of the “Land of the Leopard”. This young spotted cat first got into the objectives of camera-traps in 2014, and a year later the scientists were pleased with the pictures, accompanied by her first-born kitten. Living on the border with China, Aurora preferred to raise her cub in the territory of the russian national park. About a year ago a young female received a name from her Keepers - employees of the holding Vostokcement. Like the ancient Roman goddess Aurora, the spotted cat is distinguished by activity and strength. According to the idea of the Keepers, its image should become the personification of faith in a bright future, and a new name - to give the possessor extra power and luck. Perhaps the name is already yielding its fruits. In the past year Aurora not only remained true to the fatherland. Now she is more often appearing in front of the camera-traps of the Leopard Land National Park. She appears in front of cameras rapidly advancing. This female does not particularly like to relax in front of the lens and do "selfie". She is always busy, focused, and seems to know exactly what she wants. Meet Amur leopard named Okhotsk! He is one of the oldest leopards of the national park. The name was given by the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Sergei Donskoy. For the first time this leopard came into view of the cameras in 2013, and according to scientists, now it is at least 8 years old. With an average lifespan of leopards in nature at 15 years, by human standards, Okhotsk already has a solid experience, but still full of vitality. Those pictures prove this. In the past year Okhotsk was registered several times with different camera traps in the southern part of Leopard Land National Park. Every day this powerful beast skirts the miles of its possessions. It cannot be confused with a young male: according to a well-fed figure and a heavy step it is clear that before us is a strong and confident master of the taiga. It is interesting that over the years Okhotsk not only does not concede his positions, but it seems that he is becoming even more active. About three years ago he often sat up in front of the automatic camera yawning and stretching, but now it’s nothing like that. Now this leopard is always on the go, moving confidently.
