On the final day of our 4 days searching the canals in a 6 person tin boat we were rewarded by hearing the unique growl of a Jaguar not far off. After about 5 minutes of searching the banks we spotted this guy lying in the shade. He was wary of us, and moved down the bank a couple of times without ever taking his eyes off us. Our guide was so excited, it soon became apparent that this sighting was in fact very rare and we got the feeling he may have actually never seen a Jaguar before despite his nearly 20 years of guiding in the Pantanal.
